Thoughts on this Mazda CX-9 lease offer

Year end lease offer for Mazda CX-9
RV = 71%
MV = 0.00038

It’s not bad for a 24m lease… IF this is part of a plan that only requires a short term, stopgap solution. Are you expecting your circumstances to change as such income to go up or move into a house & install an EV charger etc etc?

I would not recommend leasing this otherwise. 72m of these payments is $36,000 of payments on a car that has a selling price of 39 and change.

What’s that $720 under untaxed incentives?

Dealer rebate

Yes thinking of it as a stop gap. I need a 3 row suv but not great deals on telluride/palisades at the moment due to lack of inventory. So thinking of it as a short term solution till car maker gets better in 2 years. Let me know your thoughts

As a former Telluride owner I can say it has always been that way for that particular model. Your best bet for an MSRP deal is to order one from the manufacturer via a cooperating dealer.

For a stopgap solution I’d consider a Nissan Pathfinder too.

18m lease
Better equipped at ~$500 per month
More useful third row and storage

If you go that route, order your Telluride halfway through (9 months left). If the Telluride takes longer, Nissan/NMAC have been very easy with extensions in the last 2 years.

Any idea how would lease transfer or early trade in after 1 year work for this CX-9?

Per swapalease, mazda financial (in their toyota financial incarnation) suspended lease transfers about a ywar ago and do not currently offer them.

As far as early trade in, I wouldnt expect an inexpensive path out.

My thoughts are don’t get a CX-9. I had one and it’s a terrible car to live with long term.

Why would you take the chance on thousands of dollars of negative equity?
