Hello Gents and Ladies

I’m about to sell a 2021 Tesla 3 I bought at the height of the chip shortage, still owe a little on (payment is high for what it is), and somehow have equity in.

Let’s hope the transaction goes through tomorrow.

Previous leases were a 2011 M3 Competition, 2 Priuses and a BMW i3 and the Hackers were a big help.

I’ve been reading the forums here a bit to re-familiarize myself with how leasing looks these days.

Some general questions:

Which BMWs are leasing best right now? Also feeling the temptation of a Defender or Rivian but they seem to be leasing horribly.

And finally, the new Prius is kind of sexy in its own way.

Finally, is Swapalease still a viable option for getting out of a lease these days? Asking because I may move to a region where I won’t need the car in 6 months or so.

I’m in the Los Angeles area and thank you for fielding the broad nature of this post.

Any thoughts / perspective appreciated.

Yes, SAL is still a viable option. Be careful as to where you are moving to, as may lessors have stopped allowing transfers and some like GMF only allow in-state.

“Best” lease, like you know, is a matter of perspective. What’s your budget? What are you looking for? EV, ICE? When? Next week, by EOM? Sounds like you don’t qualify for loyalty, so you’ll miss out on those rebates.

Maybe signup for super supporter to get access to ratefindr.

Watch the private transfers and get an i4.

Thanks so much for the reply @Kctham18 :+1:

Yeah it looks like they changed the loyalty program so that even though I’ve leased 2 BMWs in the past, I don’t qualify. I can ask though.

I’d love to spend $500 or so a month but there’s some flexibility there. Open to EVs as I have free charging at home but owned a Prius IV before and the gas was so cheap it almost didn’t matter. A plug in could be nice. Maybe just not a gas guzzler.

Looking into super supporter – thanks for suggesting.

Take a look at some of the demo/loaners that are available in the CA Marketplace from some of the brokers. Sometimes there are some decent finds-especially since most of the current EV deals are no where near pre-Oct 1 (with some rare exceptions such as Hyundai Ioniq 5s).

thank you, appreciate the suggestion!

Good idea!

Is there a reason why so many people seem to be getting out of i4 leases (all around $500/mo)?

Some get bored some can’t afford it. Some have first baby and buy a Tahoe XXL.

I mean, grabbing a GT3 for a newborn makes way more sense to me but to each his own.

Also upon further inspection, it appears that the $500 i4 leases are more expensive i4 leases, but with cash incentives. Which explains a lot. And isn’t a bad thing.

It is still a decent place to unload a lease, assuming it’s transferrable: LR (Chase) leases are not, and AFAIK Rivian are not either.

New question: what’s the best way to evaluate a lease transfer?

• Vehicle condition (maybe a private evaluation?)

• Monthly payment

• Incentive

But I guess I don’t know is how to evaluate an assumed lease vs. starting a new one.

Your thoughts appreciated.

Hello to all

Just sold my Tesla 3 LR and somehow wasn’t upside down on it.

Happy to get back into leasing and happy to be communicating here on the forum, but I have some very n00b-esque questions.

Two cars that I’m interested in are the new Prius (not sure which model) and the i4 (also not sure which model) – do you figure all this stuff out just by going to dealers?

If anyone has any LA-area suggestions for specific dealers to speak with, they would be very appreciated.

I’ve found a low-mileage lease take over i4 eDrive 40 with small incentive but it’s also coming up for registration soon, which almost negates the incentive.

Thanks in advance for fielding my inquiries – just getting my feet wet again.
