Think it’s totaled?

Well. This sucks. I woke up about 1 a.m. Saturday to the sound of somebody crashing into my Rivian R1T. The police had stopped him on suspicion of a DUI and when he gave them his license they ran it and found 2 warrants. When they told him to get out of the car he took off and tried to get away through my neighborhood. He missed the curve in the road at about 50 mph and went straight into my yard and truck.

Any other Rivian owners on here gone through the repair process? I don’t want to jump to conclusions, but based on what I’ve read in other forums about how expensive Rivian repairs are, I’m afraid that insurance will total this out and I’ll be stuck looking for the next thing when I wasn’t ready to.

I had a sub-$600 lease on this Rivian and we loved it. It doesn’t look like anybody’s getting those deals on Rivians anymore so if it’s totaled I’m going to need the forum’s help to figure out what’s next?

Yep, totaled. Your frame looks like it is gone and most likely damaged battery compartment.

I would try first file clam with the other person insurance so there won’t be a claim on your record. But if he had 2 warrants I don’t know how much of any coverage he had.

Yeah I don’t know how to figure out his insurance stuff. He crashed the car, got out and ran away on foot. The cops caught him on a different street.

I guess I give my insurance company the police report and they contact the police to figure out if he has insurance?

A far better option than driving around in a repaired Rivian that should have been totaled.

Your insurance company will handle all of it.

Call Rivian corporate and see if they can’t swing you a goodwill deal for your hardship. Never hurts to ask as they are fairly unicorn-ish and they would like to move another unit to a satisfied customer that lost the rig through no fault of their own.

Do this AFTER the insurance carrier totals the car and you are done with it.
