Least illogical place to post this question.
Friend is trying to sell a 2019 Civic with 40,000 miles for an elderly relative who can no longer drive. Just posted on Facebook (to his feed, not an ad on FB Marketplace).
What is the argument for not buying this sight-unseen for $5,800? (Well, I’ve actually seen photos, it has a minor dent on the hatch).
For resale.
$5,800??? Buy it now before someone else scoops it up lol
$5,800??? I’ll come down to cbus right now lol
“Slightly negotiable.”
It’s in Iowa somewhere. I know, same answer. ![]()
cash buyer
if you’re passing on it
$5801 bid here
As a former part-time ohioan in Toledo, CBus, and Dayton, if you pass, let me get first dibs. Lol
I stayed in a hotel in Dayton about a month ago. That has to count for something. ![]()
Sorry you had to endure such suffering ![]()
not on my list of vacation destinations that is for damn sure
None of the messages we’re trading on Messenger sound like anything he’d say.
Probably a scam then. I’d be careful
So it is some sort of scam. I have seen that happen with a few people on fb. They were selling equipment, a car, etc… and that prices just didn’t makes sense. I never did interact and the post was gone within a day or so.
Definitely a scam. We’ve been friends since I was four years old. I know him better than his wife does.
I’m sure you did already but you should text him and let him know his fb is hacked. Hopefully the scammer doesn’t get anyone
Yes, I moved the conversation to text.
The only other potential outcome I was anticipating was that there was a typo and the price was $15,800, which was my original theory.
iowa local here
Or the $5800 was the down payment part of the listing…
A “typo” where they leave off one digit from the advertised mileage is very common on FB marketplace
