The Best Finance Rates & Hacks! Submit your CU recommendations!

these offers are given when you open the card, otherwise chances are you’ll never get such an offer ever again

Fyi, DCU rates have gone up 50 points to over 3%. Really not a good option anymore. Last two increases have made it a lot less competitive. Affinity & Allegacy CU are better options right now at right under 3%.

I just checked, and they rotate. I went into my account, and the offer has been added to my account sporadically over the last nine years. Right now, they are pushing the Flex Loan and Promotional APR.

your account offered 0% on a balance transfer with 0% apr for a set number of months?

In general, are dealers likely to change/increase the selling price if you tell them you’re bringing your own financing?

I just closed a loan today with Allegacy for 1.99% apr for 66 months. Other than a snafu on their end with initial membership application, they were wonderful to work with. The loan officer i was assigned to was really great and responsive. They get back within 1 business day. Once my membership went through (took a few days bc of the issue, an exception on their end i am told), the loan went through in 48 hours. Check issued to Tesla today via overnight FedEx. Tesla accepts a check image with tracking info to release car since ach is not an option for Allegacy.

I have an active loan with DCU at 1.24% from Oct 2021 and i would recommend Allegacy right now for not just rates but also responsiveness.

Allegacy Loan Officer was great to work with (have a direct contact there) but membership was a no-go for me.

They apparently could not verify my information with ChexSystems but I think they were either ChexSystems inquiry sensitive OR there’s something in there I do not know of. Allegacy asked for SSN Card, Drivers License and a copy of the utility bill for proof of address. Provided all of them. And then the denial came.

I had a security freeze on Chex that I took off (for a period of 2 days) and I see that they pulled my report. Only thing in there was 2 previous inquiries in the last year for an account with DCU and Ally. No bounced checks or any account in the negative.

I wonder what “issue” was on their end that they fixed for you?

Would there be interest for a google sheet that people can add their reviews to? So stuff like this can be collected in one place for the LH community, or do people feel google reviews is enough.

This is on leasehackr too. It has multiple CU’s with reviews, rates and terms. Even has comments.

Similarly they pointed to ChexSystems (CS) as the cause for my denial. I had to call CS and validate my info. CS then told me there were no active freezes or alerts on my account and I’m cleared on their end, and to call Allegacy again, which i did. After they chatted with their “back office” they told me to apply again, so i did and it went through. Allegacy was never able to tell me the reason for being denied the first time and pointed it back at CS.

If you’ve been cleared with CS I’d suggest having CS send you a letter of validation in the mail (only option is snail mail for them) and escalating with Allegacy. Be persistent… it was worth it for me. Good luck!

It could be useful. For me a search on LH for Allegacy brought up helpful reviews as well. Your spreadsheet and collection of data points is a lifesaver.

Interesting. I might have to go that route. My loan is done with DCU at 2.49% but I would like to keep the door open with Allegacy.

Thank you!

did allegacy ask for financial documents to get the loan approved or just credit score?

Looks like Carolina Cooperative FCU has good rates, should be added to the list!

They did. Last 2 pay stubs, any evidence of any other income.

gracias. i’m trying to find one that doesn’t bother with all that for a family member with a high score that works for themselves.

I wouldn’t recommend a CU if you do not want verification. Big banks are more lenient when it comes to documents.
