Armco is looking pretty good again.

Any requirements for joining this one?

I joined a few years back from California with little or no effort. I think you may be able to join one of their sponsor organizations for a few bucks and that will do it.

Many of the credits unions I work with are now requiring your physical presence in the branch in order to complete ID verification. Even if they allow memberships via a backdoor, this can be a hassle.

Really? It is surprising that any credit union, bank etc. would still require that as almost every financial institution large and small (CU, bank, etc.) that I have dealt with in the last 2-3 years uses electronic ID verification like ID.me, Login.gov, Veriscan or others when needed.

another vote for Armco. I don’t believe they have a cap on dollar amount financed. I did just a 175k+ auto loan with them. They also don’t go by credit score, just year of the vehicle, but they pull your credit. Just tax returns or pay stubs. Super easy and great people. I joined with a 20 dollar membership to an alumni organization.

Haha. No it was a Porsche, But I really like Armco, very easy to work with. I had three other active auto loans at the time of application and they were still easy to work with. It’s hard to find a rate better than them especially with sweetheart sale (I just got their mailer)

So you’re saying someone with 75K salary can just buy a car that’s like $200K?

Or you meant there’s no real Cap on funding then credit is pulled.

Oops sorry, no cap on lending I believe, but they check your tax returns or paychecks, DTI, like any other institution and they hard pulled credit report. They told me there’s no max amount. What drew me to them is not only did they have best rates I could find but my credit score was low 700s at the time and at all other institutions I wouldn’t get the best rates. Armco doesn’t go by score, which to me is a first.

Ngl I made this while drunk in the Dubai airport lounge before ChatGPT. It’s been nearly four years so I think it’s time to update this side project.

I’ll be looking to move from Google Sheets to a vercel based application in the next few months and adding new features - depending on my drinking, because seriously you have to be to enjoy worming through credit union sites.

Planned features:

  • Move from a Google Sheets + automation setup towards something hosted on vercel
  • automated credit union submission by link
  • More frequent and automated updates
  • Moving scraping to a headless browser to move scraping from hardcoded html table based to dynamic keyword search (might play with an LLM to see how good it can get)

Any suggestions or feature requests, say a loan payment calculator, or something?
