Tesla Ordering Tips - And Most Other Reasonable Things Tesla [but no more]

Looks like some of their inventory discounted deeper than other units.

I wonder how they decide…

I noticed some are demos, and some pickup locations have lower prices.

Putting demo vehicles aside, there are still differences between different vehicles and the inventory.
Some are 4K discount and some only 2K discount

I’ve been wondering the same thing. How do they decide which location and vehicle to discount more? While watching inventory, I’ve noticed that there are certain locations that get larger discounts and have the lowest price vehicles. Likely the inventory is high there and they are running out of space.

Been watching their inventory and picked up a M3 RWD at $35090 Dec 20th. Today NYC has no inventory for this trim.

As for long range only 1 was available as of this morning in Brooklyn at $43k.

According to Tesla these are loosing the full $7500 cred.

Here is an example of 2 exact cars with different discount.

In Southern California, I noticed that the more remote locations (Camarillo/Santa Barbara) had bigger discounts than a more central location (Burbank).

The new AP strike algorithm is turning a lot of people off from what I understand.

You can score over $5k off on some MYLR with 20" wheels here in the North East.

Not sure what the logic is in discounting such cars in your example other than bad panel fitment?

No idea :person_shrugging: , I wonder if the store peeps would know

Anyone tried to negotiate the discount at the store on the inventory cars?

If there is a discount inconsistency on the inventory, there might be some wiggle room

Who feels like rolling the dice?

Today is the day to do it to get it delivery by Saturday. I have not seen any news if TSLA will take part in the 2024 program that will allow dealership credit the $7500 at purchase if you do Cash/finance.

Tesla has stated the M3P, MYP and MX will continue to receive $7500 incentive in 2024 and the only way they can pass this on in 2024 is via POS. Also, recent Tesla contracts have shown a $0 cash credit for the incentive, seems like a placeholder for when the changeover occurs.

Thats not how Tesla works. That would be the equivalent of trying to bargain with a walmart cashier.

Probably depends on number of cars at a given location.

For the Houston area, the League City location had the parking lot full of Teslas with many double/triple parked. The majority of the Houston-Westheimer location’s parking lot were cars with plates (assuming cars in for service). The League City location had the deepest discounts consistently ($35,090 for base Model 3) while the Houston-Westheimer location had significantly smaller discounts ($1k to $2k) on the same car.

Interesting, I’m assuming the POS credit will still be for the respective income limits…

Playing with the website numbers, it looks like the discounts are treated as MSRP adjustments rather than cap reduction.

Anyone had a chance to confirm it or is it just the wonkiness of their website?

That’s almost always been Tesla MO for leases.

Makes me wonder if the MY/M3 are the ones to buy instead of leasing.

With all the price changes it’s like playing roulette on what would be a resale value in 3 years

Teslas have traditionally had horrible leases. It’s just the last few months where they’ve become more reasonable, maybe even competitive. In order for TSLA to stay high, they need to show growth every quarter, and the only way to do that is to sell more cars. I don’t have a crystal ball, but one way to increase sales is to offer even better lease incentives.
