Tesla Ordering Tips - And Most Other Reasonable Things Tesla [but no more]

What’s the current MMR for a 22 Tesla Model Y Performance (assume 7K miles). Thank you!

Last time I checked on Accutrade they valued FSD at $750.

To be honest, the best thing Elon could do is make FSD static with the account/holder and not the car.

I am kind of deciding between a M3RWD and a Model Y AWD long range. 43k vs 55k.
I guess M3 would qualify for 3.75k while MY would qualify for 7.5k tax credit (so 39.25k vs 47.5k).
Planning on keeping the car somewhere between 3-6 years. Does Model Y hold their value better than M3RWD?
Is the 12k (8.25k) price difference worth it for an AWD, longer range, and a bigger car?
In SoCal so don’t necessarily need an AWD and no kids. I guess the long range would be helpful when going on long trips which would be like few times an year.

Anything I am missing? Anything that could help make the decision?

$400 diff?

See 2023 MYLR vs 2023 MYP for more entertainment.

Whatever algorithm MMR runs under the hood, it gets scared by the word "performance’.

My '21 SR+ 3 needs some new rubber after 46k miles (and obviously an alignment too).
Did some research and based on where I live (MD, where we USUALLY get some snow in the winter) I think the Michelin Pilot Sport All Seasons are a pretty good overall tire? Anyone have experience with this tire? Gonna wait till Costco has a Michelin sale and have them install a new set.

Sorry, I’m new to the world of MMRs. Are people able to buy at these prices? Or are they just the average price they’re going for at auctions?

These are generally regarded as one of the highest performing AS tires.

If you want more longevity, however, you should look at something else.

I’d also consider crossclimate 2. Better in the snow, less grippy during the other 3 seasons.

If you are looking for EV specific tire recommendations.
Continental Crosscontact RX w/ Contisilent
Hankook Ion Evo
Goodyear Electridrive GT

I would recommend any of these tires, especially if you are looking to maximize range, but you won’t find any of these at Costco.

I ended up going with CONTINENTAL EXTREMECONTACT DWS 06 PLUS XL. I read a review that said they had better wet performance than the Michelin’s and are quieter overall. Not to mention they are also a bit cheaper. Ordered from Tirerack and being shipped to my local NTB store.

I’ve rejected two VINs already and yet Tesla has not cancelled my early August 2022 MYLR order. Just got assigned a third VIN.

MSRP is $52.9K (lowest price in Jan). I’ve owned my share of Ys and have zero interest in owning another in 2023. Not even worth flipping. Do dealers or brokers even want to touch Model Ys?

Most online buyers are making super low offers on Tesla, to avoid getting buried again.

However, the private marketplace is still pretty strong. But this tends to be a hassle.

I’m pretty sure you would find somebody to give you something to transfer your order…

I’m happy to give it away. I’ve posted in internal company Slack channels and asked friends… nope.

Where are you located? I would be buying a car sometime in May or June.

Florida.

VIN is assigned. Has to be picked up in 4-5 days. In fact, it’s probably on the lot because I have Friday as a delivery option.

M3RWD now $42k.

Price drops on MY LR. In NJ, MYLR now qualifies for the $2000 ChargeUp.

You can now order MY AWD. Lease in NJ for $499/mo $2500 DAS.

Looks like MS and MX price reduced also.
