Hi, I’m about to lease a model Y long range w/induction wheels and after looking at the breakdown of total cost i noticed the CA Clean Fuel Reward is deducted from the total due instead of deducted from sale price prior to calculation of the lease payment. I read the guideline from CA website and it stated that the reward should be deducted from sale price so wondering if perhaps I’m not understanding something correctly? With it deducted after the fact from the total due on signing my lease pmt is higher because I’m getting charged interest/finance cost on the higher sale price (financing the $1500). Anyone recently leased a Tesla or EV with this new Clean Fuel Reward? Is the # calculated correctly by Tesla or should the $1500 be deducted first from total purchase price so it won’t be financed?
Here’s the # from Tesla. Can anyone help me replicate this in the calculator ? i can’t seem to get the pmt to match.
If you’re deducting off the purchase price which in this case case would be $55,290.00 - $1500 = $53,790 then the amount finance would be less thus lease pmt lower right vs if you just based the leased pmt on full purchase price of $55,290?
It’s cute how Long Range All-Wheel Drive is a $8,990 mandatory “option” on a $41,000 base price when in fact the $41,000 car doesn’t exist. The base price on a Model Y is really $49,990 plus destination.
Anyhow, agree with the others. With that atrocious MF, it’s better to finance rather than to lease Model Y. Tesla has no reason to offer discounts or subvented rates on one because it’s by far the best-selling vehicle in its class. Demand outstrips supply.
It’s all semantics isn’t it? Want power windows in a f150? Add $5k+ package to get it. Want laser/radar speed control? Oh buddy, we are over $44k for that.
Tesla has been very clear that they are selling the long range and performance only until demand drops enough to deem producing a lower margin car.
When I bought mine I wanted the LR+ MY but they cancelled it and it appeared the RWD variant was coming but the price was barely less than the current AWD LR.
How the hell is that false advertising when all is listed there in front of you? They said from the beginning the most expensive variants go out first…just like the models before the Y…and same will be for the truck…just like Ford is doing with the MachE. It’s good practice for a business to milk the most $ out of its customers.
