Tesla Model 3 SR RWD $205 per month $255 DAS in WA 36/10K; $42.6k MSRP

Just accepted delivery of Standard Range Model 3 RWD using the WA EV Rebate. The only addon was $2k color option, which I decided to splurge on
Used $1k off referral credit.
Total is ~$205 per month with just $255 DAS, which is $250 order fee + $5 payment I needed to do in the app before delivery. I was pleasantly surprised to see Tesla applying the $9k WA EV Rebate to cover all the fees and the remaining amount going for capitalized cost reduction. To reflect that in the calculator I had to use negative dealer fee: link.
Since the car is under $45k there is also no sales tax on the first $15k

What did you have to do to get the WA EV rebate?

You need to reach out to Tesla advisor after you order and they will attach the WA EV rebate form to your order. You sign it electronically. The 9k amount only got reflected in the app on the delivery day, so until the last moment it wasn’t clear how it all going to work out.

are there any restrictions to the 9k rebate? Im not seeing this on Teslas website when trying to order the Model 3

Was there an outstanding balance of $9,000 in your app before you accepted delivery? We signed the lease docs yesterday and are accepting delivery this week. Do they just remove that amount when they drop off the car and you sign the docs?

Thanks!!

Looks like Tesla is passing the risk to the buyers who might be subjected for audit if they end up being unlucky. For buyers who are taking advantage without meeting income criteria, there is some risk associated while its unclear on the penalties involved.

You are not required to provide any income documentation to dealers to receive a rebate. However, a percentage of all customers will be selected for income verification after they buy or lease an EV. By signing the Customer Eligibility Form you agree to provide any requested documentation (such as income-qualified program enrollment confirmation or authorization to access your tax records) if you are selected for verification.

Exactly. Had ~$9005 due in the app up until the delivery day. Then it got updated with the WA EV rebate in all the documents and amount due became ~$5 which I paid from the bank account.
Congratulations on the car! Which one are you getting?

This is not unique to Tesla. This is how WA EV rebate program designed to work with customer signing this form and then dealer getting reimbursement from the state.

Seems like a great deal, but I looked into the program, and its income requirements are quite severe. If you’re an individual, you have to make less than $45k per year to be able to qualify.

About 10 years ago, I leased a $30k Ford Fusion for $289 per month while making $56k per year living in DC. And in hindsight, I had no business having a car that nice or expensive on that salary.

Just be careful you’re not overextending yourself for a car.

Thanks for posting this. I’m sitting here looking at a Model Y price sheet and scratching my head on whether or not it’s worth it.

$47,550 MSRP
$360/month for 36/10k

The math feels really wrong since it’s only $5k over your MSRP, but the monthly payment is so much higher.
