Tesla Leasing their Pre-Owned cars, cheap (CA and TX only at this time)

Tesla has just started offering leases on their pre-owned inventory.

Just browsing near me, you can get a Model 3 or Model Y starting at $225/month before tax with $0 down, $1000 drive-off.

Coolest though, is they are offering these as 12-month leases.

It would be awesome if other brands followed this.

Lease with taxes would be $7,980 to drive a 5 year old Model Y for 20k miles over 24 months. I’ll let ya’ll back into what the lease economics are.

No Tax Credits in TX, the DAS just goes up…

Thanks for going through the full fine print - not quite as cheap as it looks surface level

They better come up with some really creative accounting bc they’re losing a lot more then 200/mo in depreciation…amazing how cheap these things got. I was looking at used model x plaids that were 100k last year for like 50. Might be time to short some tsla

I wonder if they are somehow able to get the $4k used EV credit through this lease instrument?

From what I read no. But who knows what these companies are capable of pulling off the way they structure things. That would be a huge windfall if so…especially on 12 month leases. coming out of the tax payers purse as usual. I don’t see how it’s possible though

The wholesale value of a 20 MYLR with 45K miles is around $24K. They are starting off with a retail value ($26K) that is probably above their basis. Manheim is predicting $300 of depreciation over the next 30 days and past sales show only $133 of depreciation per month for the past 6 months. I see them in the black on this example – these older MY and M3 have kinda bottomed out.

Some really amazing deals. I’m jealous of TX & CA residents

Bill Gates would like a word.

He covered and lost his lunch money. I’ll bet a couple months rent on it though

Nah it’s all going into my cvna shorts for now. Hopefully gonna make my year there. Learned my lesson shorting tsla in the past. Humbled me real quick

Seems like a lot of this volume will cannibalize new car sales. What am I missing?

Cutting us production and making more affordable cars to sell here and abroad? I think that’s their new strategy. They have their hands in a lot more then cars too and have the cash to burn for a bit

Anyone know if the used ev federal credit would work here?

You gonna be homeless

The only thing dumber than buying a Tesla is shorting TSLA.
