Your wording was far from sincere or information seeking, let’s call it what it was.
I’d also add that the BMW X5, X7, 7 series, Cadillac CT6 , Subaru Forester all have superior driver monitoring systems.
That’s true, relying on steering weight has its flaws.
As expected…useless. I thought you actually know something…my bad.
It was very useful, if you were paying attention, which it appears you weren’t. You requested something for now, I gave you the proper response:
“We’re nowhere near level 5”
That’s the scale that autonomous is based on as of now, you shouldn’t trust your life at all with it and should remain highly vigilant behind the wheel.
Excellent reading comprehension, my friend.
Talk about reading comprehension…you know, when you got nothing, it’s ok not to say anything.
I suspect we may have found the driver asleep at the wheel for 30 miles on the 405.
In that case… ![]()

This is not the first time I’ve seen Super Cruise ranked highly (I think one of the auto mags also spoke highly of it 1-2 yrs ago, possibly before it had even been unveiled in an actual production car). So, as a @Bjam states, maybe try a CT6.
Interestingly, no German makers were tested…
Super cruise if I remember correctly actually recognized stationary vehicles ahead unlike many adaptive systems. Worked wonders.
Yes, I remember this report. Their main complaint about AP was driver monitoring and was the main reason they gave it to GM.
“In CR’s testing we found that Cadillac’s Super Cruise’s eye-tracking technology ensures that the driver’s eyes are open and looking forward toward the road. None of the other systems we tested use eye tracking; rather, they prompt the driver to hold on to, or apply pressure to, the steering wheel. This is an insufficient way of measuring driver attention, and it provides little assurance that the driver is even awake. Because of the impressive ability of Tesla’s Autopilot to keep the vehicle centered in its lane, it’s easy for drivers to become overreliant on it. ”
Can’t argue with that. Until level 5 is released, the driver needs to be monitored.
In Musktime, that means at least 8 years.
You can’t say prevented considering there have been crashes with Autopilot on too. Mitigated, I would agree with. Prevent…nope.
