Just starting to shop for a Kia EV6 and will also be getting an IONIC 5 in SoCal. (We are going all electric.).
I have looked at what some brokers are doing and it seems that 8% is about the best offered off MSRP. Is there any reason to expect to get anything better than that? I assume that Kia and Hyundai are similar in terms of what might be expected. Just want to make sure I am not missing anything or setting my goal discount too high or low.
I have all of the incentives from Edmunds (dealer cash, MF, and RV) and this is the last piece.
Been shopping the Ioniq 5, best I got so far was 3% off. I was shooting for 8% as well. You’ll need to reach out to many dealers to find one unicorn that budges.
It would actually be 3 since we already have an IONIQ 5! And we had a Bolt, so I totally get it – it is a great point.
But there isn’t much else reasonable out there. Nissan Ariya is brand new. Chevy Blazer EV is brand new (and wouldn’t get another Chevy EV). Hate Tesla’s ride and look, and it is still pricey. VW ID.4 is ok but pricing isn’t as good – will take another look at that one. Don’t like the Mach-e very much. Not much else out there that we are interested in. But again, it is a fair point and will take another look for other options.
We have personal reasons for not wanting those, whether it is prior experience with the brand, an important feature that isn’t available, the range, or the price. But your point is an excellent one and we will take another look. The VW ID.4 might work.
Also remember other levers worth pulling in addition to discounts: some Kias have VIN-specific extra rebate, for example. Both can substantially reduce MF through one pay. Again look in those places I linked above for a holistic view of how to reduce your total cost.
@max_g So we ended up getting an Ariya (from John in San Juan Capistrano – a great person to deal with who is on LH). Thanks for the suggestion to take a closer look at other brands. It is really a great vehicle. My wife loves it.
