Suggestions for a good deal on large SUV with towing? New to leasing

Land Rover Defender 110 seems to have excellent towing capacity & 3rd row.

Not so much on the “good deal” side of things though

Also, I personally wouldn’t trust a 2.0 4-cylinder to tow 7,700 lbs which is what it’s rated for.

+1, Forget about connecting the trailer lights to the fussy RR electrical system

def need the 3.0 which is even more of a disaster on deal front!

In 2018 I spent 3 months towing around my 10’ Wells Cargo aluminum 1 axle enclosed motorcycle trailer with a new leased 2018 Mercedes GLE350 SUV (3.5l V6 302HP, 273 lb-ft torque). The trailer was heavily overloaded on each trip - I was moving boxes, furniture etc. from a second house approx 130 miles to a different house and/or a storage unit. I must have made a round trip every day for a week, and then once each weekend after that. (In hindsight I probably should have just used movers, but we didn’t have everything packed up at the same time, and we had a rolling decisionmaking process on what was going where.)

Anyway, that “rig” did OK, not great, but I wouldn’t have wanted to go any lower on power or torque. The wheelbase was too short for anything but that stubby trailer, and even then with it being overloaded it was borderline. I normally have / had GLS450 Mercedes (longer, 372HP V6 turbo, air suspension), which would have easily handled the same job. If you’re really going to tow big weights, it’s hard to beat a 2500 pickup (or my old 2500 Suburban).

Back in the day the GLE350 was a high $700s monthly payment with $3k DAS (3y/45k) through a broker; the GLS450 used to be a $1k monthly with $3k DAS (3y/45k). Obviously they would meet the plush requirement, but both are now probably 30-40% higher in price.
