Subaru Discount

My Frontier lease is coming to end. I have been contemplating financing an absolute base - manual transmission Subaru Impreza wagon. Aside from VIP - is there any additional discount that seems possible for these cars?

Further - what type of depreciation am I looking at for the base Impreza wagon? I would most likely finance over 36 mo to take advantage of the Subaru financing special.

Just get the new Frontier, it’ll be cheaper. I bet finding a base manual is probably tough, plus it’ll still be $20k plus taxes, $400ish/mo for a base Subi on a 5 year loan. Get a base Frontier in the $200’s on an 18mo lease. Maybe by then the car market is less f’d up too

They were going for $3k off MSRP (VIP is like 1k), but why you switching? The Frontier or even the PATHFINDER has a lower monthly right now.

I had a Silverado crew cab LT before the frontier. I took advantage of the crazy trade in prices last year and pocketed around 7k to sell them my lease early. I got the frontier for no money down, 225/mo. The frontier has not wowed me and the prices on new full size pickup trucks are insane. I’ve gotten used to driving a “meh” vehicle. If I need a truck for a side job, I’ll just rent one from HD. My wife and I had our first kid and are trying to buy a second home so we can move out of half of our double. I’m trying to be fiscally responsible. My thought behind the Impreza is that I can buy it over 3 years, own it, and if the depreciation isn’t crazy, can use that for a larger down payment in the future.

Where was a 3k discount on an Impreza available?

I’m fiscally responsible and I just keep finding cheap leases, buying crap ends up costing as much or more, payments higher and have to deal with maintenance. Plus if you wreck the thing and tank the resale, it’s all on the bank. Other than maybe a couple oil changes, I haven’t paid for car maintenance in over 7 years. The key is find the right hack.

Check Marketplace, San Diego has it for sure, not sure who’s offering on East Coast.

Are you able to place an order and wait? Little to no chance of finding one on a lot, unless someone backed out of their order. We ordered that exact car. Base manual Impreza wagon. Sticker was $19k at the time (2016). Sold it in 2020 with 30kish miles and 4! wrecks for $16,500. Granted, that might have been a poor algorithm from
Shift.com, but the local Subaru dealer offered $15k.
