I am so lost and have no idea what I am doing. For some reason I feel like the dealership is high balling me. I am looking at a Subaru Crosstrek 2.0i Limited. Im in Illinois.
MSRP - 30242
Invoice - 28229
Final Price - 27101
Trade IN - 3000
Money Down - 2500
Tax - 10%
APR - 3.5%
Yeaaah >$500 for a Crosstrek is pretty outrageous. You could consider selling the trade-in separately as you’ll likely get more money for it, but I know that depends on your tolerances for dealing with people who buy used cars.
To put that number into perspective, posters are getting heavily optioned Mercedes C300, BMW 330is, and Audi A4s for that kind of $. And even at $500/mo, those cars would not be considered an amazing deal.
California (Nor-Cal)
We have 3k to apply but trying to avoid Down Payment option. also trying to keep monthly payment low hint’s the lease option
I was told to use Costco for their Auto Program but from what I found it’s a pre-negotiated price. I feel like doing my own research will get me a better deal (Any opinions about the Costco Program)
I have done the typical dealer website inquires and I have received the auto responses from the Dealer.
I followed up with a email response I found on the forum:
“Can you please provide your best 36/15K lease price on that vehicle? I would like the monthly payment based on a $0 drive-off (just first month’s payment), maximum MSDs (security deposit), with CA taxes and fees rolled into the payment. Please also provide a breakdown of dealer discount, incentives, rebates, and the MF and residual.”
I have received a few prompt replies

2nd Dealer
If you were to order this car we would have to wait till the month it is coming in to figure rates and terms because Subaru Motor Finance changes the rate monthly base on current federal rates.
Most Lease require first payment and bank fee up front so you would have a drive off of around $800.00 but again till I know the rate and residual i can only guess the rate and residual. Remember on a lease your first payment is up front and because Subaru never offers rebate there is no rebate to pay up front cost.
If you would like to order the Crosstrek, once we know what month it is coming in we can work lease numbers at that time.
(I took this as they don’t have the Vehicle in Inventory)
You can find MF and residual on the Edmunds forums. Use the calculator to find out what your total should be with a decent discount and apply all incentives available.
I’m shopping a Crosstrek not a Forrester
Subaru bought back your Forrester? Why? And what did you end up with? What are you paying now?
In the long term I’m looking for a low monthly payment, after the lease is up the Vehicle will probably go to CarMax or another dealer as a trade in.
