Just turned in my Ford lease, and noticed the truck is already for sale on the dealers website (surprisingly, thousands below my buy out price). They obviously bought it out from Ford. Just got my $400 Disposition Fee bill. Any chance they will waive the Disposition Fee in a situation like this?
Unless you bought it out, you are going to be responsible for the disposition fee when you turn in your lease. Don’t see a way around that one, unfortunately.
Unless you bought it out or leased another Ford, you owe the disposition fee.
Well, when I leased a 2018 Equinox in September of 2017, the dealer bought my 2015 Outback and I didn’t pay any disposition fee at all. Same thing when I gave in my wife’s Accord to a VW dealer for a new Jetta…never paid a disposition fee. Both times in NJ.
YMMV
Difference was yours was a trade in. In this case it was a lease return and then Dealer bought it from Ford.
Definitely will owe disposition,
What Cody said. The term of art is grounding the lease. If it’s bought out before it’s grounded (eg in a trade), including being in an accident and totaled, no disposition. If you ground it and you don’t lease another of the same brand, you will get a bill for your disposition.
A note to all of us; DEALERS GET TO BUY THE LEASE OUT AT A DISCOUNT OVER WHAT THE LEASEE DOES. FCA/RAM was about $800 less in 2017.
First time I heard that I was pissed.

Its not always true. I’ve posted examples where they offer them to dealer for over residual.
In other words the vehicle is worth less than RV… sounds like you should be glad you leased it instead of buying it
Must be true. My Buy Out was $33,870, currently listed on the dealers website for $30,950. Sent a random enquiry if it could be bought today for under $30k, and it appears it could easily. I asked the Finance guy who checked my lease in, if they are going to buy it. He stated they rarely ever Buy them from Ford due to the cost, apparently never any meat on the bone for them. Who the Hexx knows what they actually paid, but if Ford would have came at me with a carrot at around $27-28k I would have kept it. I’m guessing, but I’m sure that must not be far off from what the dealer grabbed it for.
It’s a bizarre story.
I wanted out of the lease 6 months early as I had a buyer at $600 over lease buyout and I was at full miles of the lease.
The dealer was able to buy it out for $800 less than me, I paid the dealer a $150 inspection fee and the dealer sold it to the buyer I found as a used vehicle.
All in all the dealer grossed $950 and I got out of my lease early with $600 I my pocket.
The buyer paid me the $600 directly.
