Sounds too good to be true?

,

Reading advice on this site, I contacted 16 Cadillac dealers in 5 states, seeking an Optiq EV loaner for a 24/12 lease before the Sept 30 federal tax credit on EVs expired. Most wanted 3-4x the supposed lease deals people were bragging about. The best I saw was 2x. While there may be legitimate lease deals on this website, where one-pays were closer to 1.5-2x the best deals, the claims made on extremely low one-pays do not seem legitimate. “If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.” At this point, unverified bargains have no credibility. I believe there are some bad players (con men) on this website, just baiting the hook to get potential customers to call dealerships or brokers. Maybe trying to harass you. Bait-and-switch. I just laugh at them. Caveat emptor.

Who are you trying to warn? Are your feelings hurt because you couldn’t replicated one of the verified signed deals or did you try a broker? A lot of it is on your delivery and understanding of the deal you want and who you speak to at each dealership and how you speak to them.

Don’t get so many feelings involved. It’s just a car.

Well, you can always become a paid member by subscribing and get access to signed deals so you can view contract copies to see if they are “too good to be true” or actually a result of hours of someone’s research and hard work …

If you post the exact language and detail you included in the offers you sent to these dealers, you should get some helpful feedback to make your next attempts more fruitful.

You are in TX, so any of your leases will be higher by default. You need to understand this first.

If you’re trying to replicate a unicorn, there is a right place/right time theme to it. I believe most of the deals I see on here. I was expecting a low $600 high $500 crappy optioned 2025 Taycan to show up on the forum at the end of September, but I didn’t get my wish.

Not sure the OP understood how much TX taxes would add to the cost they’re seeing in other states.

I think I saw some deals posted lately from TX that showed partial sales tax credits. But even then it was a bit more expensive than some other states posts.

I’d love to see how OP is approaching the dealer(s).

They are real. Just got a Sport 2 today for one pay ~$7500 in Dallas area with only conquest. Full disclosure though the deals were different last week and even Saturday than they are today. Try again, they know the clock is ticking. I could have had a sport or luxury 1 for 6500 pretty easily, but Sport 2 upgrades are nice and it was super close to where I live.

Sounds like skill issue…

Yes all of these “deals” could be fraud. Who knows?

If only there was a website where users upload their contracts anonymously…

Maybe we could call that page “closed” as in closed deals.

Maybe that website could also have a tread called “trophy driveway” where users brag about their recent acquisitions.

One can only dream…

“Most wanted” - that tells me OP was ASKING for payment quotes and the dealers in question came back with the typically higher lease numbers. You never ask…

OP mentioned 5 states and by definition no dealer outside Texas can even offer these credits.

So what happened was OP contacted a small number of Texas dealers. The intersection of a LH type deal and tax rebates is always going to very small and OP just didn’t have the right strategy. They don’t even apparently understand taxation in their own state.

do we think the OP will ever post again?

Maybe they found a great deal and are out enjoying their new whip.
