Some interesting data on the NJ rebate program

I wonder if those who took advantage of the round one rebate will be eligible for round two.

The fact that it’s moving to a POS rebate now makes me think it’s more likely that you can get it again.

Can get it 4 times within 10 years.

I’m curious how they will manage to get away with this without going back to the legislature. This was passed through the legislature and signed into law by the governor with specific rules and terms. I don’t see how the BPU can just go ahead and change the program on the fly now.

The webinar was interesting…they were kind of pissy most of the rebates went to tesla

They added the in-state dealer stipulation even though it wasn’t in the legislation, didn’t they? Although this would make an ever bigger red flag for someone to sue, I suspect.

in-state purchase was there last time

Yes, I meant they added it after the legislation passed and before they started mailing out checks. Some people got screwed.

Interesting. What’s the timeline on when the earliest we can expect the new Federal ev tax credit to come into effect?

Stacking the two on a $40k ev sounds nice to me!

Jan 1, 2022 but the longer they wait to pass an infrastructure bill, the smaller it gets.

That’s so far away. The n.j. rebate will most likely be depleted by then as well.

If it’s a tax credit, it can be retroactive for the whole of 2021.

It could, but besides affecting the current budget year, zero current proposals take effect this year.

Has anyone heard anything on the start date? Saw a few folks think 7/5-7/7 as kick off but sounds like dealers don’t know.

Nothing official yet on the site but the budget is signed and the money has been allocated. Should be coming soon.
