Has anyone asked for a price match from vroom on their own quotes? I’m currently in the process of selling to them, waiting for a call for pick up. Just reappraised my Tacoma and it’s $400 more now. Planning on calling vroom and asking them to match their new quote.
To follow up here…the buyout that Audi FS provided to Tesla was $40,087 while my buyout is $37,126. A $2,961 difference…(for reference Tesla’s trade-in offer is $36,900 where Vroom is $39,059.
The $2,961 difference is much more than I expected…frankly Audi’s $40,087 buyout is not a competitive market price. There’s a 2018 S4 at the local dealership with a few thousand less miles than mine, plus the sport package (a better equipped car) for $39,999.
While it would have been nice to capture some equity, my real goal was to just walk away even. Where I’m at now turns the picture to just taking the Audi to lease end.
Thoughts?
I put in a request for a quote and it’s been about a day with no response. How long does it typically take vroom to respond back with one? Anybody put in for a quote recently and it said that vroom needs to get back to you?
I accepted a quote on my 2018 BMW X2 on Thursday. I have not received any DocuSign documents. I have emailed them twice with no response. Not sure what is going on. Maybe they are swamped because the used car market is hot?
Same for me, I accepted their offer on Wednesday and uploaded my info. No response since. Based on everything I’ve since read…do I really want to walk into this nightmare?
Trying to sell my car to Vroom now but BMWFS said they will not facilitate third party sales when I called asking for the 10 day dealer payoff quote and that Vroom would have to pay whatever is listed on the customer payoff quote.
Anyone else have this experience or any tips on how to get the dealer payoff from BMWFS? Vroom said they would trying calling to get the quote themselves but said they cannot buy the car from me without it.
So I got my Docu-sign e-mail from Vroom this morning. They did get the payoff from Audi FS, I did not have to get involved. It was the same payoff figure as Audi provided Tesla. I’m $1k in the hole, but if I turn in to Audi at lease end I’ve got a $495 fee and will have to buy tires…so still slightly ahead with the Vroom offer. All info on the sales contract is accurate…proceeding with caution for now.
Hello all
Just wondering if anyone has committed to Vroom, signed the documents, returned the documents and then change their mind and no go forward with the sale? I read the Vroom contract again and there is nothing there that holds me liable if I cancel the sale before they gain possession of the vehicle.
My situation is that everything went smoothly with Vroom but I have been waiting over 2 weeks for the carrier to pick up the vehicle. The carrier (Acertus) cannot be reached and every time I call Vroom, they have stated that someone should call me “soon”. Also during this time period, I have resubmitted to Carvana and surprisingly now my offer is $3k higher than 2 weeks ago. I am just tempted to now sell to Carvana because with Carvana, I am getting $3,400 back vs. $1,200 with Vroom.
Call them to put in a request to push it through and they’ll get back to you. I waited days and no one got back to me. Then I called and had a quote within a few hours.
Thanks, I called yesterday and got it!
Similar thing happened to me 2 years ago, I had signed the docs but pick up was not happening so I initiated the process with Carvana and I told Vroom I will sell it to whoever can get their act first.
Just wanted to get people’s thoughts on the reliability of Vroom compared to local places like Carmax.
I have 4 months left on my lease of a 2017 Maserati Levante. I just picked one of the Bolt drops as a commute car so I want to get rid of the Levante.
Carmax quote is $39k, Carvana $39,010, and Vroom is $44k! My payoff according to Vroom is $38250, so I’d come out positive with any of those. I’m leaning towards Carmax for the ease, but I’m definitely tempted by Vroom’s incredible offer. But is it too good to be true? What can go wrong? And is it worth the peace of mind vs Carmax’s offer?
When Carmax appraised my car, everything was ‘ok’ and they didn’t find anything wrong. I’m afraid that Vroom may revise their offer or give me something less when they do inspect the car after it’s picked up. If they decide to downsize their offer, who pays for returning the car to me if I elect not to sell it based on their revised offer?
All your thoughts are welcomed. I’ve just been reading some horror stories on Vroom, so I wanted to make sure that it was worth the uncertainly and effort compared to Carmax’s offer. Thank you in advance.
Following.
I have leased 3 months left 2018 Levante base with 23.5k miles on it.
Got quotes from Carvana $43k, and Vroom $47.8k.
my payoff with Maserati (chase bank) is $46.7k
I have decided to sell my car to Vroom. hopefully, I can get $1k equity in my hand and get out of Levante lease early.
Was your personal payoff the same as your dealer payoff? I was surprised mine was the same.
Have you signed yet?
I am not sure what the dealer payoff amount would be. I am assuming it should be the same.
I have uploaded my driver license, lender payoff letter, and registration this morning. Will update you when i hear from them.
Yup. I was able to confirm with a Vroom rep that I am indeed able to cancel without penalty or liability. They were professional and apologetic about it too! Now, onto Carvana for me. I scheduled a pick up from them tomorrow. Lets see if they will even contact me or show up
My buddy sold his Tacoma for $6500 equity! I am forcing him to get a Jeep 4xe with me now lol
I’m sort of in this boat, my 2020 GC has $4400 in equity right now and I’m so tempted to grab a 4xe!
You should! You would only pay like $5000-6000 more over course of 3 years for a new car.
I know I feel like it’s dumb to pass up this insane equity right now. I drive about 14 miles to and from work every day, all highway so I think the hybrid would be good. I’m just worried about it being comfortable, my GC Trailhawk is insanely comfortable and quiet to drive for long stretches, I haven’t heard that about wranglers haha
