Sold one to DRIVEWAY.COM

The guy called me first and asked if I was available for him to pick up in an hour, he didn’t just show up on his own.
I took my insurance off as soon as the money was in my bank account, they picked up 2 weeks after paying.

Paperwork arrived this morning (4/26) and sent it back out around lunch :crossed_fingers:t3:

Once there is a lockbox on the car, get it off your property and take it off your insurance. It’s no longer yours, and they have their own insurance if anything happens.

Keeping it on your policy for a day or two is fine, but weeks? It’s on the buyer to pick up the car.

Were they able to purchase with a title and reg to the financing comp? Or do you need to retitle

Has anybody sold to Driveway without an appraisal or pictures? I received my paperwork to sign, but they haven’t even seen the car yet. Edit - Actually just saw someone in this thread with the same scenario.

They purchased with CCAP on the registration, but initially whoever I dealt with didn’t know or understand that they could.

Another success with Driveway.com

Here’s my timeline,

  • Offer accepted: 3/21/22
  • Emailed documents: 3/23/22
  • Virtual inspection: 3/24/22
  • Documents received: 4/26/22
  • Documents returned: 4/27/22
  • Equity deposited: 4/29/22

Vehicle scheduled to be picked up sometime next week, bank is through CCAP. Hope this helps

Has anybody gotten Driveway to fill out a state-specific statement for a sale? In Missouri I have to send a document to the Dept. of Revenue within 30 days of a sale and they can’t promise me that they will sign it…

That’s a long period of time to complete the transaction. I have a free and clear Tundra that I accepted a Driveway offer on last week. No document or inspection yet. I was told they are swamped and could take some time for docs, but looks like there are delays in all the steps of the process. They were significantly higher ($3k) on the offer from the other 3rd parties.

I agree it did take a while, but their offer was much higher than anyone else. Definitely worth it in my case

I got an offer from Driveway on 4/7 and a document specialist reached out so i’m just waiting on the paperwork piece to sign. However while I was waiting I decided to check Driveway to get a new quote and it’s since gone up by over $3k. I’ve reached out to them to see if they would honor the new price or if we would have to start the process over.

In theory since nothing is signed, I believe I could just cancel my current sale and start the process over with the new price, even if it takes another 45 days or so. Ideally they would be able to just adjust the price and save everyone some time.

Anyone have any luck with having Driveway adjust the price while waiting for paperwork? Still waiting on their response to see if this is possible.

This is an interesting situation. I was curious and looked it up, my offer went down. Keep us updated on what happens! Your thought process seems pretty logical to me. But driveway takes weeks to get anything done so it’ll be interesting to see what happens.

They didn’t even give me another quote after I accepted their offer.

Can someone send me the email of their driveway purchaser? I can’t get an email back from them…

Their ticker is LAD. What ticker are you looking at?

Is driveway able to purchase with a title still in the banks name? Just bought out my Volvo lease and title in hand but made out to Volvo financial.

I’m not even sure what you’re talking about. 15 days ago, LAD was running around 290. 1 year before that, it was close to 400 - that $100 drop in 12 months.

My bad… I misread your post. I thought you said it dropped to $100 / share. Just wanted to make sure you were looking at the correct ticker.

Gotcha. Despite their stock dropping, they seem to be buying cars like crazy. I’m going to post the story of my selling my Camaro LT1 once it’s all finished. Driveway’s offers have been way above everyone else.

Can confirm.
