To be fair, no one in their right mind believes that it makes sense for these guys to be paying as much as they are.
Thanks. Algo is offering $24.2k on a $14.5k buyout. Insane. I set up a video session for Friday.
Hopefully it stays that way good luck
Carvana picked up my dads car today. Pretty easy process. Got 4K equity on his car. Only used for like 7 months with 6700 miles.
I leased 4 kona ev ultimates in March and April to flip. Sold 3 to carvana for $11k, $10k and $5k. Liked them so much I decided to keep one so sold my '19 ioniq ev to vroom for $2.8k. Happy days!
$11k, $10k and $5k are your profit for each flip?
Yes. I did quite well.
That’s awesome. Are you expecting any tax implications?
Is the 3rd party payout like carvana different than the dealerships buyout on our leases?
My accountant said it’s taxable income. If you report it. And you should.
March and April of this year? Like to hear more details on these.
Sold my Volkswagen Atlas to Carvana today for a $3k profit. Had it a total of 18 months and paid $0 in maintenance thanks to included VW Care.
I’ll miss it but loving the Tacoma deal I got here on Leasehackr
Yes, 39/10 lease had 18250 rebate. 45% residual and around 3% mf. Buyout at signing was between 26-28k depending on the deal I signed. Carvana offered almost 38k on the first 2 cars, but then only 32.5 on the last 2. The keys were that in PA the rebates aren’t taxed and there is no upfront tax, HMF buyout is basically your remaining payments minus tax and interest, and Carvana clearly overvalued the cars in early March.
Depends on what bank your lease is through.
Its through Honda financial
Honda financial doesn’t charge a different price to 3rd party dealers, however, there have been mixed reports of if they’re allowing 3rd party buy outs right now.
So what price do third parties pay? The dealerships price or my buyout price on my statement?
Dealership price
I called GM Financial. Any dealer can buy out your lease, they prefer GM dealer. Sold my 2019 Traverse for $5500. over payoff to WeBuyAnyCar.com. It had half the contracted miles.(14,500), but I drove that last year for free after that buy out.
I was under the assumption for HMF, its their online Buyout price minus Taxes. Your Method seems way less
