Beautiful car and color combo. Well worth it if you’re looking for an S4, but I am heavily biased towards Audi.

But I believe you as the original lessee will remain liable even after transfer.

@daveydave424 is correct; with Audi and VW Financial, you remain liable even after a lease transfer.

I am interested but I am in Boston so may not be worth transporting the vehicle.

Yes, I was previously aware of this prior to creating this thread… it leaves myself and all other Audi leasers who are looking to exit their lease with a huge conundrum.

The risk is something I am willing to assume if the new owner is able and willing to show me proof of established credit history along with a sustainable source of income.

Unfortunately, this guaranties absolutely zero.

Can he get a notarized contract that states the new leaser will be responsible for any charges at the end of the lease?

I would assume it can hold up in court…maybe not an easy thing but better than paying for 3 years while a full time student.

That would still be a court battle, as you would have conflicting agreements (Audi vs the notarized letter). Is it really worth the potential $$$ risk it would be is the question.

If Billy Bob takes over the lease, loses his job tomorrow and can’t make the payments, Audi is still coming after the original lessee. He’d then have a court battle/legal fees/time wasted trying to get out of it.

That’s crazy. I didn’t even think of that. I thought he was just responsible for wear and tear since they require high credit score for a lease transfer.

So looking at it now it is probable best to sell and pay the difference if there if there is any.

Payoff the remaining 33 or so months left? I would think the risk would be less if he goes through his checklist of good credit history, source of income verification, etc, etc. But yes I do understand anything can happen at any time to cause someone to stop paying.

Damn I would be all over this but i’m in Florida. How did you manage to pull that deal off?

Great looking car! I would be seriously tempted to step up, but am in NY.

Another word of advice: if you do decide to have someone take over the lease, I would make sure that they sign an iron-clad contract where they not only agree to take over the payments, but agree to fully indemnify you for any action that Audi takes against you for any reason, including the lessee’s failure to pay the lease. There’s no sense in exposing yourself to even the slightest bit of potential liability if the new lessee defaults on the payments - or worse yet, outright refuses to pay.

One option is to get a one pay. But still, does not prevent from being responsible for damages to the car.

I doubt the Op will find anyone willing to do a one pay for ~20K

Yep, just throwing it out as an option. If someone really wants a new S4 at reasonable payments.

I’d be willing to do a one pay depending on circumstances. Not sure of logistics because in Florida but might be worth it if no other options. Feel free to let me know

Guess there really is an ass for every seat…

Yes indeed. Bear knows how quick and easy it is to go from a stable job with 800 credit history to a being a destitute unemployed hobo living in the Subaru/Audi…

Huh? …20202020

So what are OP’s options in this case? Can he buy the car and sell it? I am just wonder in the case of a captive lease, is there a way out? If not, this is really one of the downfall of lease?
