Not in my eyes. The off the shelf tuners in the Audi/VW world are tried and true for many many generations. They go through the R&D, blowing up motors, finding the limits safely so the end user just has to flash and not worry.
Custom tuning is a whole other story so I just stick to proven and off the shelf software.
There is definitely some risk there, we are just debating where the reasonable limit is. If all of these cars could just double the boost with zero problems, the OEMS would do it too.
It is def going to contribute to earlier engine failure , but who knows to what degree. If you plan to keep the car for 75k or less miles ya I bet it’s not terribly significant but longer than that I’d be a bit hesitant.
Obviously there is also confounding by the fact that someone who tunes their car is prob gonna drive it/push it harder than average person who doesn’t.
