I’ve seen the $99 per month ad at dealers and on the website but being as any advertised deal looks to be a ripoff compared to the deals we get on this site, I want to know what’s the cheapest lease I could find for a Smart Car.
The deals on the ads are the deals. Most of the folks on this forum treat them as starting points and go from there. You need to know the underlying numbers for the deals if you want to negotiate so that means contacting the dealer on the AD and asking them about the MSRP, residual, MF (tell them you are Tier 1 credit for apples-to-apples comparisons), MSD allowed, etc. (you will need to read up on these if you do not want to get ripped off). New Residual %s and MF come out tomorrow (Dec 1)
@jcahse check out swapalease or lease trader, a lot of people are putting up their smart cars on those sites for lease assumption. I think a lot of people don’t find it practical and just want to dump it. I feel like you could make a good deal with the right person, have them pay the transfer fee or an incentive to you for taking over the car. Just speculation but given the amount of smart cars available for lease assumption that’s the conclusion i came up with.
I just wanted to bump this up. I’m brand new to leasing and trying to understand as much of it as I can to avoid asking questions I’m sure y’all have answered a million times over. Newest Smart lease deal as advertised is 36 month lease, cash due at signing includes $1,599 capitalized cost reduction, $295 acquisition fee and first month’s lease payment of $89, no security deposit required, 10,000 miles, excludes title, taxes, registration, license fees, insurance, dealer prep and additional options. Walked into my local dealer just to inquire. I looked at a base model Smart, which was more than I needed, wasn’t too impressed with the color, and made that clear, and began to walk out because I was only there to inquire. As I was about to get into my car, he offered $1500 down to include “everything” title, taxes, registration, etc., at least as I understood it, $79/month, and 12,000 miles. Seems like a great deal to me, but I didn’t get into asking about MF and residual percentage, etc, which I’m still trying to understand. Any thoughts? Someone mentioned that new residual percentages and MF came out Dec. 1, where do I find that? Thanks!
Sounds good. I haven’t gotten any further. It’s been on hold because I’m trying to sell some of my cars before looking at any new ones haha.
Also, I realized that the cost of insuring the smart car is more than the actual monthly payment of the smart car so that’s kind of been turning me off from it as well.
