So back to the drawing board for my dad. It’s November, so I figure the deals should start getting better before the holidays, but I’m not really seeing anything right now.
My dad really wants a Luxury SUV. I think a small one would be best, since he really doesn’t need the space, he just thinks it’ll be easier for him to get in and out of an SUV. He wants something luxurious (like Acura, Lexus, BMW, Mercedes, Cadillac etc) with Leather and comforts and most importantly, it has to have a lot of safety features like lane assist, blind spot warning, etc. Basically as many bells as whistles as possible to prevent him from crashing. I’m thinking if I could get him under 400/month all in that would be ideal, but I might be able to convince him to spend some more if it’s the right car. He only needs 10K miles/yr.
So far he’s driven an Acura SUV (not sure which one) and a Cadillac and he really liked both.
What are your dad’s challenges with ingress and egress? Bad knees/back, really tall, etc? I struggle to get in and out of low down cars. I currently drive a full size SUV, but have had success in the past with a taller hatchback. Also, have you thought of something like this for him to use:
He has bad knees and back. He knows it’s hard for him to get in and out of a car easily, but I can’t imagine him carrying around the carcane. He’d much rather just get an SUV. I tried to get him to try the Chevy Bolt and he really didn’t like it at all. He’s pretty set on a luxury SUV. Guess I’ll continue to keep an out on this forum. Seems like this is the time of the year to get one.
Pretty sure he’s not going to be able to wait until 2020. His current car is on it’s last legs. He hasn’t been in a hurry until now, but he really needs to get one before the end of the year.
