I’ve been watching ZDX leases for a while. At this point, I’ve leased about 10+ cars and realized the ZDX leased great IF the incentives were not all applied as taxable. The AWD had $2,000 more in incentives, but the higher MSRP and 1% lower RV made it lease for about $500 more total than an equal RWD.
My target was an RWD A-Spec in silver, as there was no premium for this color ($600 for paint adds up on a lease like this). I was looking for 8-8.25% off MSRP before any incentives, with only $11,500 (7500 Fed Ev and 4000 Consumer Lease cash) being applied as taxable incentives and a one-pay mf reduction.
Long story short, Southern California had a couple of dealers who knew how to structure the lease. Every single dealer in Northern California said I didn’t know what I was talking about, and most were insulted by my offers.
I closed on a white RWD, One Pay, 24m/10k for 6,226 @7.75% tax rate. I flew down to get it and drove it 8 hours home the same day. I effectively got 8.09% off MSRP before incentives.
A quick review of the car—FYI, I have a Tesla Model Y Performance as well. The RWD is plenty on this car, and the efficiency seems great. At one point, I was averaging 2.9 mpkWh at freeway speed. AWD is faster, but it’s not crazy fast. Even the Type S doesn’t seem to be anything crazy in terms of performance, not to mention a much worse lease.
The interior is classic Acura although somewhat dated. The HVAC controls are laughably GM and out of place. The two screens are nice enough, and Google Maps works well for the most part. Android Auto and Apple Car Play are cool but don’t factor in the charging needed on the route like the upgraded built-in Google Maps does. The few screen preset options work well enough, although the screens have a washed-out look when dimmed. The processor is clearly underpowered and slow compared to late-gen Teslas, etc.
The stock stereo sounds surprisingly really good.
I drove it 400 miles in one sitting, and it drove great. It’s big, but unfortunately, it doesn’t have any extra EV storage space like a feunk or large trunk cubby.
Charging on Electrify America and EVGO worked well. Peak charging speeds were around 180 KW. I’m spoiled by the supercharger network (which I rarely use), but the built-in Google charging stops worked well. Although it’s hard to tell if it will route you to a charger that’s full or has a wait.
The ZDX charges at home on my Tesla wall charger with an adapter just fine at about 10KW.
Overall, I am beyond satisfied with the value and overall price.
