Rather than try to back into the numbers, why not just find out what the deal actually is before going any further?
From the alcohol last night! My bad. Not quite right on the math.
From edmunds in NYC, seems the P250 S has a .00015 base money factor and 60% residual on a 36/10k. That would mean this deal is approximately 2% off MSRP if base MF is being used. Whatâs the most folks can conceivably do on a Velar these days? Iâve seen 3.5% max and most dealers want to jack up the MF.
I understand what you mean but Iâm not going to back out of something once we reach agreement even if its not legally binding. I just want to be better prepared for next time.
The deal was done yesterday. I am going to see if they give me any paperwork tomorrow when I pick up the car. Then I can speak with more certainty. I will ask for an invoice.
I think you are spot on. The salesman said a similar money factor (.00010) and similar residual and my imperfect numbers on the calculator showed approx 2% of MSRP. I know, not really exciting.
Nice looking vehicle! Enjoy it and good health to you and yours!
Post in the Trophy Garage - 2 where no one cares about the actual deal
Read the forum from time to time, you will learn a lot before your next lease.
In the meantime: Enjoy the new ride! Drive up to the Kent/Litchfield area in Connecticut and see some foliage this weekend
Velars are so good looking that if you can afford it just do it.
Good luck with the electric system my friend!
Hey you made the dealer obvious now
That gloss is beautiful! Enjoy the car!
Thank you everyone for the well wishes! Took it out last night with the family.
As promised here is the relevant part of the lease contract. Let me know your thoughts. My dads going to be leasing a car as soon as post covid life resumes and I would love to be able to get him a great deal with what Iâve learned from this experience.
Horrible deal. This is not a matter of lack of knowledge or ignorance, itâs the stubbornness that cost the OP this deal. Being courteous and sticking to his word to a salesman that actually robbed him. But on the flip side, if not for these people, we wonât be able to squeeze so much out from dealers. Dealers need to make money somewhere too lol.
I donât think you really care tbh. But my thoughts are: we all told you this was a bad deal and that you had no obligation to consummate it. But you chose to do so anyway and for some unknowable reason have come back to ask for opinions a second time.
Some people want affirmation and not help.
Enjoy the very nice and very expensive truck.
This deal looks horrible, im not sure why you would have signed it when everyone told you this before handâŚ
Enjoy your Velar! The sales person hopes you get dad the same deal using all the knowledge you acquired here.
OP: I want a deal give me feedback
Also OP: Signs whatever the dealer asks whether itâs a deal or not.
I think the OP came here expecting to be validated and that didnât happen. While it goes against a lot of the philosophy here I can respect where they are coming from in this instance. I probably wouldnât proceed the same way in this case, but on some other levels it is nice to see that a handshake deal and somebodyâs word is still worth something to some people. I suppose the moral of the story is to make sure that you are getting a good deal first before you shake on it, if you are the rare person nowadays who gets squeamish about going back on your word.
There are no âgoodâ deals on a Velar right now. Maybe this validation is what the OP was looking for. Naturally, this is the wrong venue for that. However, in the absence of moving in a completely different direction than JLR, I am not sure what he would have accomplished by backing out of his deal.
Enjoy your new car.
