The need for towing my wife’s two horses resulted in us looking for a reasonable deal on a truck. We currently lease an Acura ZDX Type-S and a Ford Mustang Mach-E, both snagged with the help of Leasehackr. I’d potentially be parting ways with the Mach-E (still considering), but it wouldn’t be a part of any deal. I scoured the forums here and had a few leads, but we were coming into it with a fairly open mind. We eventually narrowed to the Ram 1500 Big Horn and the Ford F-150 XLT, both with a couple tech-related equipment upgrades.
I began getting some early quotes for leftover 2025s and the numbers were all over the place, but generally in the mid-$700s for the Ram and mid-$800s for the Ford. My wife liked the Ram a bit more, so I prioritized that in terms of my early research. I got about 10 quotes from dealers mostly within 2 hours of New Jersey but as far south as Florida. Quotes ranged from around $550 to nearly $1,100 for what we were looking for: a Ram 1500 Big Horn Crew Cab 4x4 with the sport package or night edition along with the level 2 equipment group. My wife also would have loved a panoramic sunroof, but we weren’t going to prioritize that. I was looking for a 36 month lease for 7,500 miles per year with $0 down and $0 drive-off (or close to it), with everything built into the payment. And I’d ultimately opt to do a one-pay if it made sense.
Eventually, I had two separate quotes for $550 at the terms I wanted, one for a demo a couple hours away and another for a new model I’d need to have shipped in from Georgia. A local dealer we had visited to look at the 1500 in-person early on in our search (but who had a 2026 I wasn’t interested in paying for) called me back to check in during my process. I was transparent about where I was and he went to bat to try to get me as close as he could. Ultimately, we ended up with a 2026 (instead of a 2025) in the color my wife wanted, with the options, including the sunroof, and a few minutes down the road to save me the shipping cost. The one-pay would have saved me only a couple hundred additional, so I didn’t bother.
Thanks to you all for this great resource.
