Signed; 2026 KIA EV9 GT-Line $76,625MSRP $579.92 DAS 579.92 P/M

,

Called around 45 dealers, this was about the best I could do.

24/10000mi

MSRP $76,625

Selling Price $70,240

Rebates $15,300

“Sales Tax” or IMF as it’s called in SC is $500.00

Doc Fee $899.00

Monthly Payment 579.92

DAS 579

Searched for a total of 23 days, inventory on Carguru’s went from 780~ to 920~ in that time frame for GT-Lines nationwide. I wonder, perhaps, if a new model year is ever coming…

The seats are the highlight for me, can fit someone lounging in back with calf rest enough to have your entire legs supported at 6ft4 while someone also 6ft4 lays back in the front passenger seat with the calf rest out … WOW!

Good one! I got mine for SC for $600 2 years ago. Excellent car for sub $600.

Is this 2 year or 3 year? Mileage?

Oops! Forgot arguably most important piece lol. It’s 24/10,000mi

That’s a great deal, congrats!

Yep, and we’re twinsies now! I just paid $570/mo 24/10 but with a lower MSRP of $74,780 before LoJack, tint, and whatever else was added on. Mine doesn’t have the VIP rear seats.

Texas sales tax credits were applied to bring my tax to 1.5% vs the standard 6.25%.

There were only 3 GT-Lines in Houston without VIP seats, and 2 of them were at the dealer I signed with (Parkway). I also called up a dealer in Frisco (Dallas) but like you found, no one would go below 8%.

FWIW Google Gemini AI was really helpful in deciphering days on the lot and searching inventory. None of the EV9 GT-Lines in Houston were over 30 days old. The one I got had only arrived Wednesday and hadn’t even been unwrapped yet. So there is inventory but it’s moving quickly.

talking about dedications… well earned. Enjoy!

Hey, also local in the Houston area (Sugar Land) and actively shopping for an EV9 GT-Line.

The best deal Ive gotten locked in so far is a 48m/10k true $0-down lease at $741/mo with full Texas sales tax and fees capitalized ($53,961 pre-tax Net Cap Cost / $58,242 with TX tax). Like you, I’m planning to do an immediate Day-1 lease buyout to max out the $17,300 lease cash.

Your deal sounds awesome! I am curious how do our numbers compare cap for cap? What did your MSRP, pre-incentive dealer discount, and final pre-tax Adjusted Cap Cost come out to?

cheers

Why would you want to “buy” one of these? Their depreciation is rough. Much better to lease, even in the low 700s where you’re at right now. While not a deal at that price, you’ll sill be better off financially.

Totally get where you are coming from on EV depreciation, but the Day 1 lease buyout flips the math.

I am not doing a traditional retail purchase or holding the lease long term. The plan is to lease the car on day one just to capture the $17,300 lease cash plus the $5,269 dealer discount ($22,569 off MSRP), then immediately pay off the lease balance. That lets me take the giant discount while cutting out four years of finance / rent charges.

When you compare holding the lease versus buying it out on day one:

  • Holding the lease: $741 per month for 48 months comes out to $35,568 paid out of pocket, and I walk away with zero equity at the end.

  • Day 1 Buyout: Out the door cost is $58,242 with sales tax and fees included.

For the lease to actually save me money over buying it out, the car would have to be worth less than $22,674 after 4 years ($58,242 buyout minus $35,568 lease payments).

Looking at the used market right now, 2 year old 2024 CPO GT-Lines with 20k miles are listed in the mid to upper $40k range before taxes. Paying $58k out the door for a brand new 2026 means I am paying about an $8-10k premium to get zero miles, two extra years of factory warranty, fresh battery/tires, and the native NACS port.

That is why the buyout math to me makes sense for my situation.

Your math is only mathing because you’re comparing cost of ownership of a 2 year buy vs a 48 month lease, which isn’t the best term by any means.

Appreciate the feedback! Just to clarify, I am not holding the 48 month lease. I am only using that program as a two week pass-through to grab the maximum $17,300 lease cash before doing an immediate cash buyout.

Since you know these programs well, is there a better term or structure with Kia right now that yields an even lower net buyout price? Always looking to learn and squeeze out more value.

I understood you. My point is that you shouldn’t try to justify a, potentially, bad decision by comparing it to a worse one.

As things stand with the hardening of EV prices due to the war in Iran, the buyout on my 2024 lease is at KBB values now.

With all that free money on top, it may make a lot of sense at this point!

What is the benefit of buying it out straight away as opposed to lease end though? Just save a bit on interest?

holy 45 dealers, hats off and congrats!, sc is unique as i understand re the tax, so thats a big help , was anyone else close at all? by any chance did you try south florida dealers and if you would be kind enough to share your experience with them, much appreciated, ok if you prefer to dm.

I did try a handful of FL dealers, none were willing to get close enough. If I recall correctly, the best offer from FL was $645~ but alas? SC only has up to $500 “Sales Tax” but the official name is IMF fee here. Good luck on the search! CO dealers seem to have some great deals but once I factored in cost of flying/hotel/charging to get it back home, it was $40 extra per month over 24 months.

My best deal for NJ was $755 per month, with $1,000 DAS for a GT-LIne after $15,500 in rebates and discounts. That includes the 6.625% sales tax and the up-front additional $750 registration fees on a 3/12K lease. I e-signed last night and will be picking it up on Tuesday from the dealer where I got my expiring EV9 GT-Line two years ago. The salesperson worked with me to get the exact car I wanted (Wolf Grey/Black w/ Grey interior, and Comfort Package) through a special order to the factory.

When you do the day 1 lease buyout , are you able to finance it? Or you have to pay cash?

You need to be able to write a check for it, I believe.
