Not exactly a lease deal, but thought I’d share. Custom ordered a 2026 BMW Z4 M40i and just took it home for 12.5% off MSRP after incentives. Ending up buying the car outright and financed via my credit union. For reasons below, the dealer cannot replicate this deal, but you can certainly use it to shop around.
The car
It’s a 2026 BMW Z4 M40i, one of the last to roll off the assembly line.
- Thundernight Metallic Exterior
- Magma Red Interior
- Handschalter Package
- Style 800M Cerium Grey wheels
- Every option checked
The deal
- MSRP: $76,875
- Negotiated: $68,419 (11% off MSRP)
- Incentives: $1K OL code, $175 price protection for the 2026 destination charge increase.
- Extras/Fees: $250 trucking fee, $85 dealer doc fee
- Financing: BCU. Rate-locked to 3.24% for 75 months from prior month. Required me to get their credit card and use their Auto Buying service, which my dealer was already part of. I put $5K down on that same card since it had a 0% APR and 2% cash back promo. Planning to pay that card off when the promo APR expires in 11 months.
- Payment: $1012.96/month.
The story
Ordered the car through my trusted Sales Manager back in October 2025 and we agreed to the deal above in writing. In May 2026, just after the car was built and enroute to the US, he abruptly quit the dealership. The person that took over for him reassured me twice the deal would be honored, but a week before delivery he claimed the General Sales Manager refused to honor the deal. My trusted Sales Manager, who no longer works there, brokered a deal between two separate stores to ship the car to another SoCal area dealer, who would complete the sale to me on the original terms. This ended up working out in my favor since the dealer change allowed me to use a $1K OL code from the GenM Tour and the new store was closer to my house. I did end up paying an extra $250 to truck the car 100+ miles to the new dealer, but it’s a drop in the bucket in the grand scheme of things.
