After spending way too much time trying to chase a unicorn deal, I settled on this one. In the end, I’m happy with a $500/mo payment for an $88,855 car, especially with first month free. Here’s what it looked like:
2024 Volvo XC90 Ultimate
Term: 24 months / 7,500 miles/yr
MSRP: $88,855
Pre-incentive discount: 8.65%
Monthly payment: $500 inc. tax
Zero down
MSD: $5,000
Rebates: ABA, Costco, loyalty, EV credit, VCFS credit.
Total rebates: $16,750
The incentives are higher on the 24 models, but still good on the 25s. If you pay the $15 to become a super supporter you can see all of the incentives and run the numbers.
Nice - was this from Herb Chambers Volvo in Norwood? Denim Blue with Blonde interior? Called inquiring about that one on Friday and was told it was spoken for
Question though - contract looks like it says $9280 due in cash at signing, with only $5000 of that being MSD. How does that square with $0 down?
No, white with black interior from Herb Chambers. My wife had 11 months left on her current lease, so Volvo covered 6 and I wrote a check for the remaining 5. That’s why I owed $9,280. The $4,280 was separate from my deal though.
Ahha, got it, makes sense. Yeah, my wife has a 2022 XC90 T8 that we own but still owe $26k on over 2 years (the nice thing is we have $14-18k positive equity). So have been fishing to see if I can find a unicorn-ish deal in the $300-400 range for a 24 month lease and then I’d turn around and sell this one, but haven’t found anyone to quite play ball yet in MA/NH. The Denim Blue/Blonde one at Herb Chambers Volvo caught my eye because it a) has the same color combo we have and my wife loves, b) had air suspension, and c) was a 2024 so had higher incentives and better MF. My local dealer we originally bought ours from basically gaslit me constantly about dealer lease cash not being for the customer and how ABA isn’t valid and what not and wouldn’t go lower than $600 or so (which would be dumb for me to do). So I’ve chosen to ignore them.
That was the thing I was getting frustrated at with my local one - was basically like I’m actually asking for a lower discount from you than you think because corporate is paying for these incentives. Fell on deaf ears. And then I eventually realized that they were being a bit underhanded in advertising the $2500 incentive on their website, and then just keeping it to themselves so they could say they were giving a bigger MSRP discount. I guess that works for some people and makes them feel better, but was pretty frustrating to try and deal with.
