I could have probably done better but was looking for a quick deal and am happy with it. The dealers seem very motivated to move these. Btw., this is in Houston.

Not bad for a 36/12 but @ChevyCoach has Blazers coming in/out of stock for between ~6500-7000 for 2 years, so under $300/mo without the $1000 DAS. They’re the same vehicle except for styling and the Honda has CarPlay.
Solid deal on the Honda though considering it’s for 3 years and 12k, miles.
We bought it from Gillman north but i had a couple of others who were ready to match. Let me know if you are interested and i can share the salesman info.
I agree - i could have easily gotten sub $300 if i had tried harder but wanted a quick deal. I literally only spent a couple of hours from contacting a few dealerships to finalizing the deal the same day.
From the different quotes i got, i feel like there is atleast another $1,500 available for negotiation - which translates to ~$40/mo.
All the ones that are local to me in the Austin area have AWD, which I don’t want (to pay for). I don’t relish going to Houston but might be willing to.
[edit] The ones in town, meaning in Austin proper, have 2wd models but they are well known for playing games, they think these Hondas are solid gold.
IMO it’s usually worth the hassle of traveling a few hours to a dealer who will work with you. Done it many times, and in the case of a lease, i’ve just paid the few hundred to have them ship the car to my door (it’s a lease, it goes back, no big deal).
Yes, I agree, I’m working with a broker now who works through dealers in Dallas and Houston on Lightnings, deal posted on the South forum. If that falls through for whatever reason I will probably take a look at Prologue and other out of town deals, maybe even a used EV outright purchase after 1/1/25 on a used 2023 model.
I don’t know what it is about the Austin market. The Dallas and Houston markets have just always been more competitive and had better deals available. I’ve lived here in the ATX area for 33 years and came from Houston before that. Austin was a smaller city when I first moved here, city limit sign said 342,000 in the fall of 1991 and there was space between Austin and the surrounding cities. Now, all the space is all gone and the metro has blown by 2 million and will probably reach 3 million by the 2030 census. I have gone out of town for many vehicle purchases even more recently. With more dealers now it seems like it should be more competitive but it isn’t. There’s almost always better deals to be had out of town and the people in the know do just that.
