Only a day after I discovered Leashackr community (and learned a ton), I dug in an gave my negotiation a try with a lease on a new F-150 Lightning (also my first truck). Can’t wait to jump into the EV lifestyle.
Comparing with other deals I’ve seen on the site, this isn’t the best, but it’s also not the worst. The dealer clearly was motivated to offload one of their remaining 2024 Lightening models, and I’m happy to take advantage of the generous rebates/discounts they offered. Might it be one of the last few weeks of the EV rebate program here in the US? We’ll see.
Can I ask why you say that it’s not a good idea to bundle these all together? This is only my 2nd car lease, so I’m still learning. It would be good to know for future transactions. Thanks!
This isn’t right. On a lease, you are getting what Ford calls RCL cash. The amount also doesn’t seem right for Jan (short $500). Did you close this deal last month? It’s otherwise not a terrible deal.
It’s not the same. 24 Lightning Lariat Jan RCL cash was $7750 and then increased to $8000, so you are $500 short of the current incentive. Should be $9K total rebate w/ power promise cash.
Because the discount is variable and up to the dealer to set. The discount can’t be properly evaluated when it’s mixed with the rebates. In this case $500 of your discount may actually be misapplied rebates. Some rebates also conditional. For example, there is Tesla/Ram conquest, private offers and state level EV incentives. It helps to understand which were applied, in your case, seems you had none of these.
Good learning there for me. Thanks for the explanation…I’m still relatively new at the lease game here (only my 2nd), so I wasn’t aware I needed a clearer breakout from the dealer on these.
I unfortunately got the usual ‘bait and switch’ from the clearer ‘lease summary’ from the initial sales rep when I got handed off to the Finance office, which jumbled all the numbers in different formats. I pushed back on them as much as I could, but clearly didn’t do a good enough job getting them to itemize things. Is this pretty common in dealerships?
And yes, you’re right that I wasn’t eligible for most of the Ford rebate programs listed on Leashackr (like Tesla conquest, or military/first responder, etc) - just the RCL cash & Ford PP.
All good stuff to bear in mind for the next lease opportunity! Regardless, I’m still happy with my deal in the end, so there’s that. Thanks LH community!
