Big thanks to @Jimzigg for the dealer referral. I’m located in Indiana, dealer located in Iowa. I was targeting vehicles that qualified for CCR demo either Tech/Sport1/Lux1.
I could not get the calculator to work exactly, this is close; however due to out of state transaction and the way Indiana BMV estimator I had to pay for 2 years of registrations through December 2026 ~$1400 (excise taxes and EV surcharges). If I back that out, my effective monthly would be sub $200 with 1k down (required to be put on new GM rewards card for $500 rebate).
I still have to decide if I want qmerit $1500 credit or 2 years of EVGo. We do not plan to do many road trips in this vehicle and there are no EVGo chargers near us. I do have a level 2 charge in my garage but it on a 30 AMP circuit. My electrical panel is very far away from the garage and I assume qmerit will be significantly more than $1500. Any suggestions please let me know!
Typo. Card signup is $500. Demo discount is $2500 if they qualify. As I understand dealer puts cars into courtesy/demo program and once they qualify by time and/or miles they are eligible for $2500 discount.
With this being an out of state purchase did they charge shipping or did you have to go pick it up? Is your home state going to charge you taxes and registration again?
Thanks! This dealer handled all of the taxes and registration for me, they used a 3rd party service that integrates with all 50 states BMV for taxes, registration. I had to fill out some forms specific to my state for limited power attorney. They said I should receive my plate and registration directly from the BMV. The only blip was Indiana’s estimator defaults to 2 years of registration, which I didn’t really want, but there was no flexibility to override this with the third party.
This dealer did not support shipping, they required signing and taking delivery in person. This was not a problem for me, I was already in Chicago for planned trip. I did a one way car rental (about 4 hour drive), stayed the evening and returned the next morning which was a 6 hour drive. I was able to test out DC fast charging road trip, it went better than expected. Two charges, both electrify america 350 kw chargers. First was 20 minutes (bathroom break and quick bite for lunch). The second was 15 minutes. Peak charge rates were about 185 kw/h. Google integration worked well, the car knew when to start conditioning the batteries when I was close to the chargers. Started with 90% state of charge, ended home with 23% state of charge after close to 400 miles all interstate.
