Thoughts on this deal? Biggest part I was unsure about it was the lease-end protection. Car for the wife who is known to add dings here and there so did it for piece of mind but worth it?

What does the lease end protection cover?

This is premium plus right? You put that in title and MSRP would seem to match but in your post you wrote prestige.

Good catch, premium plus

Pretty comprehensive in terms of exterior and interior, includes tires if they need to be replaced as well.

This doesn’t give you any RV bump, does it?

No it doesn’t like audicare

Good: buy rate MF; discount is okayyyy

Bad: lease end protection makes the deal worse than it really is, because you shelled out $1000 for something that is essentially insurance - you’ll find out in 3 years if it was worth it; discount is kinda weak - not bad, but could’ve been 10-12% with more shopping around

I’m looking into the Q8 and it’ll be my first Audi lease. I’ve had other brands with no major issues at lease end. Is Audi strict when it comes down to rock chips/dings/light scratches etc…?

I haven’t found them to be unreasonable - if it’s small dings that are normal west and tear, they don’t call it out. Huge gashes obviously they will.

i returned my older Audi at the same time i bot the new etron. had 2 tires that needed replacement, a bunch of small dings and wheel rash. no issues at all

But BMW gave me a whole bunch of problems to nitpick when I returned my M5 few a years back, so I liked the Audi experience a lot better

Thanks for the input! @calbearsjase and @miura348

That’s good to hear. I’m about to lease for the first time and i worry about being taken advantage of when returning it. I already hate it enough negotiating in a dealership.

They didn’t charge you for the tires that needed to be replaced on a lease return???

No they didnt, one i could understand, but the other one i was pretty sure they would ask for a replacement since it didn’t pass the home test i did based on what i read from audi instructions. I was only glad ofc.

This is more dealer by dealer vs. manufacturer by manufacturer although BMW can be a PITA.

I have returned several leases on both BMWs and Audis and the BMW dealers were actually easier on the last two compared to the Audi dealers.

Yeah for all the reasons above, doesn’t the lease end protection make sense?

If you trash your car and allow for things like valet joy rides, then yes.

Take care of your car and you won’t need it.

It really depends - if you are leasing another car from the same brand, they usually forgive a lot of things they otherwise wouldn’t. I had previously returned a 7 series where the front air dam mesh was damaged from a chipped stone from a truck on a highway, but since I was leasing a new M5 into quarter end, that was ignored too

Depending on how much the protection costs it can be a good deal or not - my experience is getting small touch ups done using mobile repair shops is much cheaper - i used them for a bumper rash that was pretty obvious on the Q5e and cost me like 200 bucks and looked as good as new.

It all depends on what you find convenient - the more “hacking” you put into figuring out what repairs will pass muster and which wont and which can be taken care of easily, can save you some money.

Of course if you want total peace of mind, shell out for coverage. But then the whole point of this forum is trying to save money (within reason).
