Signed - 2023 Kia Telluride EX X-line

,

Signed lease for 2023 Kia Telluride EX X-Line at MSRP for $616/month inc. taxes ($576 pre-tax) in Broward County, FL. $0 paid at signing. Traded in my leased 2021 Hyundai Palisade positive equity. Dealer appraised positive equity in the palisade at $1,200 but negotiated $2,400 based on Carvana offer (even though they can’t buy the car). No lease incentives offered by KIA at the time of signing. Overall happy with the deal as only found one of the 17 dealers contacted that would accept my leased palisade as trade in to work a deal out. First lease payment paid by the dealer. Got the desired color and the wife loves it (for the win  ). It might not compare with the stellar deals on this forum, but overall happy with it as it is the best I could find. Big thank you the leasehackr forum for the education and tips.

Thank you  even with the tide turning, Kia dealers are the worst to negotiate a deal with especially on the telluride. I wanted the nightfall edition back in 2021 when It was time to a buy a dad car but ended up getting the palisade as I couldn’t negotiate a deal worth taking. I finally have the dad car I always wanted to drive.

I must be lucky, the Kia dealership I got my Niro EV from was so pleasant. I’ve read plenty of Kia dealership horror stories lol

How do you like the Telluride compared to the Palisade? I have both of these in the back of my head as a potential replacement for my Pacifica

I’d ride that luck … lol… I haven’t spent enough time driving the telluride but the initial drive and the pick up felt a lot better than the palisade. In terms on interior design, telluride wins in my opinion. It’s a noticeable change from buttons (palisade) to stick (telluride) shifters and will take getting used to. However, Hyundai offers complimentary 3 year maintenance on all new vehicles while with Kia it’s on a dealership-to-dealership basis. I had to negotiate complimentary maintenance during lease term from dealership. Both vehicles are great for long-term ownership, but telluride is a better looking stud. Also, there is a lot more room to negotiate a deal on palisades than tellurides, in my opinion. Hope that helps.

I thought they were basically the same car on the same platform. Nice to hear about it from someone who’s driven both.

Nice upgrade!

I didn’t know Kia dealers could buy leased Hyundais but I guess it’s the same financing arm HMF/KFA.

@Pablosingh Pablosingh congratulations and a question for you: how does the Telluride ride (no pun intended) compares with the Palisade?

Thank you

Congratulations! It would have better for you to finance this car instead of lease. Few reasons:

1st - You could get the lower interest rate under 5% for the finance instead of 6.89% for the lease.

2nd: In FL, when you trade a lease car and you make the purchase for the new one in the same transaction, then you would pay the sales tax for the New Car - Leased car trade-in value. Eg ( New car is $47k and trade-in value is $40k, then you would pay the sales tax for $7k. It doesn’t matter even if you had the equity for $2400.

3rd: You would save $650 lease acquisition fee.

4th: You would have clear title to sell this car to any dealer in future without any restriction.

Enjoy your ride!

Didn’t know that about Florida taxes. Interesting. I imagine that is only in FL? Any chance that CA does something similar?

I really wish CA does this, dont know why dealer lobby hasn’t pushed it more.

It makes me more likely to switch cars often and also more likely to trade in vs private party sale.
