I was inspired by quite a few in here that got some awesome deals on Lightnings. Ended up calling around 20 Texas Dealers (S/O to @meena_mallik for helping me get a low offer to anchor all my other deals).
Details are below, but the big thing is that being in TX I had to pay all taxes up front and well the dealership ate all of that and zeroed out any fees. I realize some folks got better deals in the past 1-2 months, but being in Texas AND not getting the $7,500 EV credit (it’s not allowed, but some of ya’ll got it), I’m pretty confident that I did the best that I could do. I know the dealer took a $4-5k hit on this one.
MSRP: $62,550
Discount: $2788
Purchase Price: $59,762
Title / Registration Fees: $0
Doc Fee: $0
Acq Fee: $0
Rebates: $8,400
Net Cap Cost: $54,150.74
RV: 59%
DAS: $0
Payment: $455 (with lease wear and tear: $484)
LH Score: 10.8
Note: I couldn’t figure out how the dealer got to the number as it was way off when I added $9336 to the untaxed incentives to get to the payment. Apologies if that’s not best practice here, but happy to correct.
Unfortunately they do not have any lightnings left. When I got this deal there were two and the other one sold an hour after I finalized my paper work . I contacted 20+ dealers around Texas, so more than happy to give you my thoughts on it. I think in general the incentives were pretty weak compared to prior months, so maybe waiting until next month might be best. I would call any dealership that has a 2023 on their lot now, because if they haven’t sold by now, they probably won’t for a while, unless they have a huge discount.
I had an offer where the dealership accidentally added the $7500 EV credit (2023 lariat). They told me their mistake, but I sent that same quote to another dealer and they asked if they beat it by $110 if I would go with them (2023 XLT SR). Took that deal and ran. They didn’t want me to solicit the deal and essentially didn’t show me the numbers outside the final monthly, mileage (10k) and what was DAS. When I got the paperwork and what I submitted to leasehackr showed $0 next to those fees.
As for MF, they didn’t ever provide, so I used what rate finder said. Apologies if wrong and if there’s a way to calculate it with the lease page I’m more than happy to. Of all fees, this was the only one I wasn’t 100% on
I’m in houston too but I searched Dallas, Lufkin, Austin and SA at max range.
The one that’s the most bizarre for me is Baytown ford which is the only dealer that has a bunch and they weren’t looking to make any deals.
There was a salesman I was working at Planet Ford Randall Reed. I didn’t go with him because Mac Haik gave quite a deal, but more than happy to share his contact info over DM. Won’t be able to replicate the deal, but can try
I too spent a ton of time hunting for a SR Lightning in Texas, but could never find a deal I could afford. I’ve got knowledge and contacts I can share if anyone is currently in the same boat.
