After extensive research looking at new MY24 leases averaging around 12% off MSRP on an iX, I stumbled onto a loaner MY23 iX and the deal was exactly what I was trying to accomplish. One note, the MY23 loaner can qualify for $5,900 incentive not the $9,900 being offered on new MY24.
The Deal:
2023 BMW iX xDrive50
Sports package only
PPF already applied
$87,595 MSRP
$68,670 Sales Price ~22% Off MSRP
$5,900 Rebate
.0005 MF
7x MSD
36/12 Term
53% Residual adjusted to ~52% w/3k miles as loaner
$0 Down
$4200 MSD
$2300 DAS (first month, taxes, fees)
$529/Month
$578/Month all in after taxes
Leasehackr score of 12.4 years
I reckon that’s a pretty good deal and thanks to all who contribute data points and deals/details on here.
Meh, who wants to actually put in effort when you can be spoonfed?
To help hopefully alleivate the insane amount of people about to hit BMW dealers with these requests:
Needs to be at least 5500 miles or have 6 months in loaner service to be eligible, so you may very easily find some that don’t qualify but you won’t know unless you ask.
2024’s qualify too, obviously a 2023 is more likely to have the write-down needed.
MOST IMPORTANTLY I AM BEGGING YOU ALL TO READ THIS
Just becuase this user got 22% off, doesn’t mean it’s possible on every iX loaner. BMW dealers write down their service loaners monthly, some more, some less, depending on how long a car has been in serviced and how much it’s been written down, 22% might not be possible, or maybe even more than that is possible, it really all depends, but don’t get indignant with people when they tell you they can’t do it, they might not actually be able to.
Absolutely right, this one that I found happened to have just hit 6 months to become eligible and was the only one that was eligible.
This deal only makes sense on a 2023. I was getting about 15-16% off a 2024 loaner when I went down that route and when you factor in a new 2024 with the 9900 incentive vs 5900 on a loaner, the new one ultimately becomes a better deal.
I also have to reiterate, please don’t get butthurt if a dealer won’t give you the same deal if they even have a 2023 in stock. I definitely lucked out on this one. Do your research and look at dealer sites for inventory. Don’t start blanket calling looking for cars.
I just keep pointing out the significant feature differences between MY 2023 IX and MY 2024 IX, although on a stripped build, I am guessing features are not a priority. There is a reason why 23’s are being discounted heavily (see MMR).
15% off but was not yet eligible for the $5900 as they were not 6 months old yet and had lower than the required miles.
That being said, taking the 12-13% off a new 2024 and getting the full $9900 incentive (equating to about 23% off) right now would be better than a 2024 loaner at 15%.
Is it the feature difference or the lack of any demand for 1yr old lux EVs when lease deals are superior? I bet 24 MMR will show the same when there’s similar data.
But at least your dealer was being reasonable.
I tried to get a decent discount on an eligible '23 loaner with a dealer who’d do 10% on a new unit but would not discount that loaner more than 8%
It’s not unusual to see big valuation changes around major BMW feature changes. Same thing applies to the X5 – I am just saying the dealer is looking at selling a 23 loaner for low $60s wholesale, so 22% off is a good out. If you want a 23, this should be re-producible.
There was a head unit change to support the transition of Idrive8 to Idrive8.5 – Some 23’s cannot upgrade, some can upgrade via OTA, it depends on build date. This is the most significant change to a base build. Where this further impacts functionality is w/ the new-DAPP feature-set. Where the 24 includes full highway assist, the 23 does not. This means no handsfree driving, or AR views, for most 23s w/ old-DAPP.
I’d say hands-free Driver’s Assist up to 85 mph is the biggest feature in 2024 models. 2022-2023 models can go hands free up to 40 mph. (In my '23, the hands-free is great for heavy traffic but can’t be used on the open highway. But still one of my favorite features!)
@azad814 looking at your MSRP, I’m assuming that your car did not have Driver’s Assistant Professional anyways right? In that case, the hands free feature wouldn’t be available on a 2024 model either so you’re not losing any major functionality by sticking with 2023.
Thank you! And correct, the only “package” on my car was the sport package and nothing else. Admittedly, hands free is not something I care about so that was not a deal breaker for me. Nor were all the AR/VR HUD stuff since I mostly use CarPlay for everything anyways.
