I don’t consider this a grand slam by any means, but I think it’s a solid deal in one of the most challenging lease markets and may be a useful data point to some. I used to lease a 2018 Mazda CX-5 and got an offer from ALGO that would give me $4k+ equity. I decided I needed to take the money and run, as I was close to lease end anyway. That, however, brought up a completely different challenge - I needed to get a car immediately. I had about three days before a tow truck came to pick up my old car and I couldn’t go without one for any period of time.

As just about all of you know, lease deals in today’s market are more or less non-existent. After being denied several times, being told I’m crazy, and receiving counter offers of $450/month all the way up to $500/month (FOR AN ACCORD!!!), I finally found a good dealer willing to make a sale on reasonable terms. I did not use Honda’s captive bank as a local credit union was offering better terms with a higher residual and, unfortunately, a higher MF.

Thanks to everyone on this board for providing me with the information/education needed to navigate this.

How is it sign and drive if you paid $518 at signing?

What bank is this?

My apologies - my working definition of sign and drive is first month and DMV, which was $518. The bank is Bethpage Federal Credit Union.

Agreed…well done and thanks for sharing the data. And congrats on running to the bank with that equity

Even with my equity I would not even take a chance to try and lease anything within a few days time, you took a high risk playing that game especially in these markets. High equity on your lease means higher leases for most new leases. And like you said $500 a month for an accord. It’s true im getting quotes so high for honda that i can literally lease audi. Mercedes, lexus and bmws for… I have called up many honda dealers and they are NOT budging on prices. I checked a Toyota dealer just for fun, I was quoted $600 a month for a Toyota XSE 2.5. I said what about the SE, $450 a month. I then said what about the corrola LE, $330. Haha.

You made a good deal on the 2.0. I
