Signed: 2020 Honda CR-V EX-L (Employee Pricing?)

Hey everyone. I have an acquaintance that owns a Honda dealership. I got a few quotes prior and he definitely gave me the best price (by about $80/month). He said he was giving me employee pricing and I didn’t really haggle anything as the quote was substantially less than anything else I saw. But could I have done better? If so, where?

I got the $1000 incentive from Honda as well as a Loyalty discount for my in-laws co-signing. I added the advanced protection package (all weather mats, cargo tray, etc.) and got one of the paints that cost more (Sonic Grey).

This is my first time leasing and I am in Canada. I’ll do a quick currency conversion for you on the monthly. Not sure why but the lease calculator is not spitting out the same monthly amount that I’m paying, but it’s close. I entered what I’m actually paying below. Thank you

I was like :open_mouth: :hushed: :astonished: :flushed: when I saw the monthly and the MSRP … but then I saw the region and im like

Lol! I know…it’s brutal. I have a lot of US products/services I use for business and my heart always sinks when I see the exchange rate.

Did I do good?

No idea to tell bud. Totally different market there and the way taxes work as well. I wouldn’t count on a simple currency conversion to tell if this is a good deal or not. There are many other factors outside of that.

Different market but why 42 months? You’re going to have 52k miles on it when you turn it in. Isn’t the warranty only 36k?

here is where 1% rule comes handy… Right on it so must be a good deal. ( sorry had to do it)

Same, this is a curveball.

MSRP is throwing me way off too.

Thats the norm in canada, also 48 months. By the way, mileage is in Kilometers not miles so that also throws everything off hehehhee

Oh wait for it. He will be here any minute.

Good question. We were initially looking at a 48 month term in order to stay within budget (wanted it to be under $500/mo). The lease rate at 48 months was 1.99% and the rate at 42 months was 1.49%. This resulted in the exact same monthly payment for a shorter lease term. It was the sales associate that made the suggestion.

In either case we’ll likely be turning it in early to upgrade when we have another kid. I don’t know how it is elsewhere, but I believe you can lease in 6 month increments all the way up to 6 years. You can also purchase extended warranty packages to match whatever the term of your lease may be. The warranty stays with the vehicle and is factored into it’s residual value. I did not purchase extended warranty in this case.

Sikes. What was the rate for 36 months?

I’m not sure to be honest. I didn’t get a quote for 36 months from him.

I know from another dealer it was about $58/mo (CDN) more for 3yr over 4yr.
