“Should I buy out my lease?” super-thread

Most dont need dealers, what brand is this

Toyota , and this is TFS , I want to write a check to TFS , but TFS is asking me to go to a dealer , dont know why

Hmm tfs is asking, you in PA or something? Even FL lets TFS buyout direct

This is in CA , let me call TFS , will post updates

Hey everyone, brand new to the site so sorry if I am posting the wrong way.

I have an 2020 Alfa Romeo Giulia TI that has one more payment of 425 due before the lease ends. My Residual value is 27k. I recently heard it may be an option to sell to a dealer. I just checked Carmax and apparently they do not have Alfa’s posted. Carvana lowballed a quote of 24k. Is my best bet to just email local dealer and see if they will offer more? I am located in NYC btw. Supposed to turn in the car June 15th. I have not extended the lease. The bank is Chrysler Capital.

Which state ? , did you try kbb /carmax ?

NY STATE and yes tried carmax, Carvana and kbb all offering same amount.

Go to the top of this thread and try getting a quote from everyone listed there.

Wife’s 2019 A4 lease expires next month (inc 6 mos extension). The RV to buy it is $17k. Mileage is only 4k and it’s in mint condition. Mycarauction.com and Carvana have offered $26k. Wife loves the car and would get new A4 if we sold this one. Thinking of 2 options: 1. Buy car and keep it (add ext warranty for approx $3k?) or 2. Buy then sell to mycarauction etc. (they claim that they can get the title within 10 days to avoid double sales tax) and figure my $9k from the sale effectively reduces the new monthly lease payment by ~$250 (9,000/36 mos = $250). If I’m thinking of it correctly, assuming I can find a white 2023 A4, option 2 seems like the best bet. We’d get a new car, no need for ext warranty, etc.

Any thoughts appreciated!

If I read this correctly, your wife’s 2019 A3 only has 4,000 miles on the odometer?!? At usage of 100miles/month I would buy the car and disregard the warranty.

When my partner only accumulated 2,000miles/year on her car we went down to 1 car in our household and used Uber/Lyft to supplement. The cost to own a car we didn’t use with maintenance/insurance/payment was significantly more.

Feel free to make the decision that’s best for your household. We recently acquired a second car after sharing 1 (+ motorcycles) for the last 2 years.

Something about the California traffic makes me scared of owning a motorcycle.

Find the best prices on warranties from Audizine, etc.

You’re wasting money leasing cars with your driving patterns.

What everyone else said, but just to add: you’ve done at least 3 oil changes at this point? You aren’t driving this thing with the original break-in oil after almost 4 years?

If so, I’d buy it and wrap it in an extended warranty. If not I’d eject.

Had 2 oil changes and due now for the third. The mileage is so low because it’s my wife’s car. She’s retired and has had some health issues. Between that and covid we basically used only my car for 2+ years. Even in “normal” years though she only drove about 5k miles /yr. I think the most sensible move is to buy it amd get the warranty in December if we decide to keep it past then.

Getting ready to purchase my lease buy out and have a few questions maybe the community can give advice on.

•The extended warranty to opt for and why?
•Best place to see where my equity stands
•8 month’s remaining on lease, Do I wait or buy it out now?

This is a 2021 430I BMW with the current buy out at $35,000 and the end of lease buy out at $29,000 before tax, warranties etc.

Thank you,
Noah

  1. Without knowing the mileage, can’t tell you about a warranty. Though it’s a BMW, you might need it.

  2. Carmax / Carvana / Vroom

  3. Your choice. Without 2, can’t answer

Hey Thank you for the response
The current mileage is 27,500 out of the 36k I’m allowed.

I just want to protect myself with the extended warranty, just not sure which to go with because they offer several.

for Warranty, see this thread

There’s a BMW link somewhere down there.
Also see if your local dealer can do a CPO which might help you.

Go to Bimmerfest and Bimmerpost dot com, and find the sponsoring dealers as your starting point. And search the forums.

Your life will be easiest with the OEM platinum warranty if you prefer service at a dealership.
