Hi everyone,
I live in Delaware, looking to get an X3 or X5 xdrive models (very torn whether I should spend 20K+ more for a better look). Only looking to drive for 3 years and less than 10k miles per year suits my needs.
Wondering what are the resale value for X3 and X5 after 3 years? Am I better off leasing or cash purchase/sell after 3 years?
Just not sure whether these models depreciate a lot in 3 years? does X5 hold better value than X3 or about the same?
I looked up used car sales price on KBB, for example there is a used 2021 BMW X5 xdrive40i with 34K miles that is listed for $46K. But this is the listed price from a dealer, what realistic trade-in value should I expect for a car like this? take 10K off from the listed price? Thanks for any advice!
Thanks for any advice that you can give!
I really wouldn’t base a X3/X5 buy or lease decision around which one you guess will depreciate the least.
Figure out which one you like/want/need and can afford, then run the numbers on both leasing and buying. See what makes the most sense. Lately most non-EV BMW lease programs have been garbage, so financing has been the smarter play.
Thank you for your reply!
I did reach out to brokers on this forum but today is Sunday so still waiting for a reply. I wonder how can I get an accurate estimate of cost of leasing vs Financing, that includes factors such as taxes and fees? Will brokers be able to provide me that?
Yes, brokers / dealers will be able to provide you a detailed quote.
In the meantime you can look at the “signed” section on here as well as the “marketplace” section, use the search function and you should start to get an idea of what this will cost.
Yes, click on Marketplace for NJ or PA and you’ll find broker listings with calculator links in the forum posts or within their linked Google sheets.
Add taxes for DE which are something like 4.25% of the selling price IIRC.
C’mon, Max! I think the new X3 is actually a good looking vehicle! But I agree the X5 is the better choice, and I also agree, ownership wins in this category (for now).
