I just did a quick search and comparison on autotrader for RR Sports. I wouldn’t say any they have listed are noticeably higher than what’s for sale around SoCal.
Buy yourself some time with a JGC. Don’t rush into a bad decision or be left holding the bag during a correction.
yeah, MMR is over $53k on that, so it is not likely they’ll go 55. Maybe 56, but that’s before taxes, fees, warranty.
So what is the consensus does everyone think? Lease a Jeep Grand Cherokee and let the market correct? The Jeep summer offer on a Grand Cherokee 4xe ($61,660 MSRP) is $399/mo for 24 mos. 7,500 miles per year, .25 per mile over, $3,559 down plus TTL. Thinking that may be the smarter choice in this market over the RR Sport although I really do love the look and want one…
Can you just borrow the car for short term and wait until you could get a good deal on a loaner or etc? It doesn’t seem like you drive that much and frankly a grand Cherokee is prob going to be an underwhelming experience compared to the other cars you have mentioned. I wouldn’t get a totally different level car than you want just bc it’s cheap .
I don’t drive much at all. What do you mean by borrow the car?
referencing your original post about borrowing family car when you need one since you don’t drive a ton. Basically saying can you wait out a good deal maybe on something newer or what is your time frame
Manufacturers’ ads are a terrible place to find actual pricing that you could sign. Always look at the Marketplace and Share Deals & Tips
Live in NY but would drive to this dealership in NJ (110 miles away). There is a special financing offer @ 3.99% for 12-24 months. Assuming using their financing would be the best route. Says new brakes and tires on the listing. Asked the best price they’d do and the woman replied with the exact price on their site. Don’t think CPO vehicles have ANY wiggle room it seems like…
What does everyone think? Pull the trigger? I currently don’t have a car and I only like the RR Sports or the Jeep GC’s. The Jeep GC’s are still very expensive and at those prices I feel like this RR Sport makes some sense. Feels like there are no good deals these days in the car market no matter which was you slice it. Thanks in advance!
Is a nice fancy SUV, but these things have a reputation for not best in class in reliability, they probably have come a long way but just be aware it can get out of hand very quick even being a CPO…
Not trying to talk you out of it, but what is your end goal, own it for a bit and sell it later on? I am afraid it will take a big toll on the value
Otherwise consider leasing or get a Lexus SUV that will run forever…just my 2 cents, Good luck
A Jeep more expensive than a RR?
Have you read the RR CPO warranty? It’s at most 60 months from original in-service date, 12/unlimited or 24/100k iirc (whichever comes first) - you have to service at a LR dealer and meet the prescribed maintenance schedule to have a claim paid.
That aside, $55k at 4% over 60 months is about $2500/mo, at the end of which you have a 5-year old, out of warranty, COVID car - that didn’t have a reputation for reliability to begin with.
My plan is to drive it until the CPO warranty runs out then sell. I wouldn’t want to drive it without being protected under warranty for reasons you mentioned. My thought process is…if I buy this for $53k and can sell it for say $35k a couple years from now, $18k depreciation amount is essentially a similar cost to monthly payments on a Grand Cherokee Overland lease. I understand this car is almost 4 years old and has nearly 40k miles, but it should be a better ride than the Jeep GC albeit brand new. I inquired about a 2023 RR Sport lease but those are leasing $1500+ per month lol
Should’ve specified, if I go the Jeep GC route I’ve been eyeing the Overland trim which starts at $58k…
Not sure how you got to 35k after a couple of years, but assuming is possible, 18k in 2 years reconcile to $750 a month, I am sure you have looked around here you can drive a nice ev or even a new BMW x5
Right, so CPO should cover it until the end of 2025, to be more exact I believe it’s 2 years 3 months from now. Closest RR dealership to me is about 40 minutes away which isn’t too ideal.
If I go through Land Rover 4% financing, I believe I can only spread payments over 24 months. $53k financed at 4% over 24 months would equate to monthly payments would be $2300 which I’m fine with because it’s either that or buying in cash. Interest rates are insane these days to finance at standard rates.
The x5 is another SUV I really like. Where have you seen 750 a month? I’d definitely look into doing that.
Check out the current lease offers from BMW and throw some numbers together to see if is even possible, otherwise there are brokers here that specialize on BMW, check out the market place for more
Will do, thanks for your replies…
Good luck getting $35k in two years for this car. You might be lucky to get $30k. As others have stated, why not lease a loaded GC for a couple of years?
