Shall I take Mercedes prepaid maintenance: demo car with 4K miles

Hi all,

I am going to lease a demo car, and the sales was suggesting me prepay for the maintenance and said it could say me a lot. Looks like there are two types of maintenance for Mercedes. The demo car has 4K miles on it, and it probably needs 2 Service B and 1 Service A - Total cost $2000. Want to ask for advices of whether taking a prepaid maintence for my lease worth it? Thank you everyone in advance!

The point of leasing is to avoid major maintenance costs, other then oil change and maybe tire rotation to prolong tire wear. What exactly does that cover?

Just the point of you asking if you should prepay kind of answers your question, but need more info to really know.

What does it cover and what kind of Mercedes?

My wife’s last 3 leases still don’t even add up to 2000 in maint. Cost and that’s with new tires and at least one brake job. But they were not Mercedes.

They said covers everything needs to be done within the lease period…Service A is probably oil change and all kinds inspection, and Service B is probably oil change, fluid change, and tire rotation. I am not 100% sure tho. Need to gather more details.

You need to get a specific list of labor and service done for the car. What car is it? How many miles is the lease term for?

For the record, two oil changes and a service technician “inspecting” your car should not cost 2k dollars. It’s a Mercedes, not a Ferrari.

If money is no object, by all means donate to the dealership. But 2000 dollars for oil changes and tire rotations for what, three years?

That’s prolly worth $400 maybe 500 hundred. So what’s the other 1500 cover?

It’s a lease and will be under warranty, there should be no other worries other then tires and brakes. But i doubt that covers it.

The dealer recommended it ? Of course they did, they want your money.

The other hitch with prepaid maintenance is: sometimes it’s only at that dealership, unlike warranty work. Be clear on that.

OP: Call their service dept and another and ask them how much the A and B service costs.

Mercedes service plan can be discounted and residualized so it isn’t that pricey (maybe, $15 per month). We usually get it. However typically service isn’t 2k for A+B. They always say that to scare people but all the service dept run specials. Call a few MB service depts and ask how much A+B is. Don’t take their work then compare to that the service plan price. Usually the service plan is better but you must get a discount on it and have it residualized otherwise it is way expensive.

Im sure it’s staggering how many people say yes to the 2k for that.

Find coupons. Service A is about $180-200, and Service B is about $400-$500. If it’s an SUV it might need brakes, those are expensive, but not sure if the service plan covers it.

:upside_down_face::scream::rofl:

I mean sales would never, ever try to suggest sell something not in your best interest

And sales people never get a kickback from the shady F&I guy

My favorite part about this thread is that he is asking about $2k on oil changes, but not about how to improve the meat and potatoes of the deal.

Good point. I can only imagine the other goodies hidden in the details, $3000 for flux capacitor protection?

My deal is so good I don’t need advice, but if someone could help me out on the nitrous for the tires and VIN etching, IT WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED!!

Hi All, I just got a 2020 E350 loaner vehicle on a lease with 9100 miles on it and Service A was already performed on it a week prior.

The finance dude sold me the following package for $1200 and residualized a big chuck of it (which I don’t care as I will turn in the car anyways after 36-months):

  1. 20,30,40K Service Maint Plan (Two service B and One service A)
  2. Tire & Rims plan (replace tires with nails, damaged rims, etc)
  3. Appearance plan (interior and exterior)

Per the finanace manager all the above amounts to a MSRP of around $5700.

My question is that given the above packages, is $1200 still worth it or should I cancel it? They are willing to remove it by sending me a check back. Thanks

How much is the total cost to YOU?

I do my own oil changes on all of my Mercedes using oil extractor and each time costs me $30 dollars and 30 minutes of my time and super easy. Most of that 30 mins is waiting. You’re only gonna do 2 oil changes for a 3 year lease so why spend 600 per oil change? I don’t quite make 600/hour.

Oy vey! You really the one who knows the answer. How hard are you on your cars? If you drive them like they’re Hertz rentals maybe. But, dude that’s a decent chunk of change.

$1200 for all 3 items listed (maint, tires, appearance)
