Selling to an Exporter

Anyone have experience with buying out there lease, and then re-selling to an exporter? Any advice or information on the topic/process would be greatly appreciated. My certain situation in FLORIDA is:

  • Buying my vehicle through the dealership (JM Lexus)
  • Getting Wire Transfer through bank
  • Normal selling procedures to a private party, in this case an exporter.

Besides the tax, is there anything I’m missing or should be particularly peculiar about? Does anyone have any experience with AMC Auto Export LLC, located in Jacksonville, FL?

I think this is illegal. Many luxury dealers in SoCal (especially when getting big SUVs like the GLS, G-wagen, Range Rovers, etc) make you sign a form saying you will not export it. If the dealer/manufacturer finds out, they will blacklist you and won’t sell any vehicle to you in the future.

I’ll check within my state, or my circumstance, when the rep from the dealer calls me. I remember reading something about the legality of it, and will definitely keep that in mind. Although I don’t specifically recall that clause when signing. Thanks for the heads up.

I don’t think there is a problem for the private party seller, it’s the buyer’s problem.

i agree, if he sells it to another person and he exports it, it’s not really his problem.

Legally, its not a problem. However, you can get blacklisted at the dealer because the dealer gets screwed (from MBZ Corp I think) if their cars end up overseas.

Legality is not an issue, however selling to an exporter when the car is still within two years of purchase or lease will get you blacklisted from the manufacturer. Your name and address from the original purchase will go under a Lexus internal database and you will likely not be able to purchase or lease a new Lexus for quite some time

Good to know, I’m glad it’s 27 months into the lease
