S60 vs S90 , which deal is better?

Hey gang, looking at my first potential lease and am very interested in the Volvos. Have a-Plan, loyalty bonus, etc.

Was wondering if you all could guide me on which of these is the better ‘deal’?

T5 S90 Momentum
MSRP 55105
Price 42888 (includes 3200 lease bonus, 2k volvo allowance, 3k aplan, 500 region, 500 loyalty)
MF 0.00046
5k DAS
359/mo

T5 Inscription S60
MSRP 41285
Price 32353 (similar bonuses with smaller lease bonus and volvo allowance i believe)
MF 0.00042
5k DAS
297 / mo

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!!

is the $5k towards cap cost reduction?

My advice would be to spend some time reading the explanatory articles on this site, before doing anything else. It will save you much time, money and aggravation over your lifetime.

Both are horrible. Go through the multiple threads and posts to check pricing history of the deals that people have gotten here and then finally read the posts from this months deals.

They are two totally different cars. One is a new model, the other one is dated and about to be replaced by the fully redesigned. That said, S60 is still a nice car if can be had for around $300/mo all in.

Thanks for the initial comments, I’ve been reading through the articles etc.

the 5k is CCR, I asked about MSDs and they said they had ‘coupons’ to reduce my rate, original quoted MF was like .001 .

I can put as little or as much towards CCR that i want and retain the same MF, payment obviously changes. have a payoff from a totaled wreck and am looking to minimize the payments a bit as this is an unexpected purchase.

Put it towards MSDs only. And possibly DAS, if you do have it.

Thanks Ursus, I’ll go back and ask them to recalculate! does that typically reduce the payment further or is it greater value due to recovering the $$ at the end of the lease?

Both. It will reduce your MF and payments, as a result. But don’t go back to the dealer - read first, like @max_g and @mani_is_kool said.

What state are you in? I bet the MF is marked up 0.00020, but I don’t think that’s wrong. How many months and miles/year?

No matter what, the S90 is twice the car the S60 is, so to me it’s the better deal.

Suggestions:

  • find out what the residuals are
  • is the S90 a FWD? Consider a T6- more incentives
  • get MF and RV for 24 months on the S90
  • consider $0 down and go with MSDs instead

MF is .00026 FWD/.00028 AWD

In my region, T5 incentives are higher this month.

@KD6-3.7 thanks for the reply,

in NC,
agree the S90 is wow, where the S60 is just ‘great’. current residuals are 48% on the 60 and 52% on the 90.

S90 is the FWD, most of the AWD T6s in stock are significantly higher MSRP at my location, so not sure if willing to reach that high but point is taken, i’ll investigate.

Will look into the 24 mo. price, good to see if it’s less. Still learning and thanks for the tip.

Got the MSD only option and the S90 with 9 MSDs (4500) is $457/mo. I like getting the 4500 back, would like it better if it was 2 yrs (to previous point).

Your s90 pricing looks like straight Aplan (or worse - 5.47% discount). If you are in the triangle, I would expand search to dealers outside the region. When I leased my s90 at the end of 2017, I had an NC dealer match a GA offer (12% off) on the last day of the year. I was ready to give up because up to that point the largest discount I had negotiated locally was in the 8+% range.

[I havent been following Volvo pricing too closely in the last couple of months, so not sure if they are enforcing their Aplan fixed pricing this month or are allowing deeper discounts.]

He can’t get below 6% with 3k a-plan cash anymore

I think from the other thread you posted in, you’re looking for 12K miles? We have 52% and 0.00026 on the west coast. If their buy rate is the same, they can only do 5 MSDs for a net of 0.00001. They can write the lease at 0.00021, but they can’t bring down rate markup with MSDs.

Out here, A-Plan would be $9,000 below invoice on a T5 FWD Momentum S90 and $10,750 on a T6 AWD Momentum, and the buy rate on the T6 is 0.00074 and RV 53%, so it might be a modest bump. A lot will depend on what your dealers have in stock. They should be a lot more motivated to sell something in stock vs trade for it, especially with these models.

With deep discounts, a 2 year lease can be attractive. Do a 9 month pull ahead later, and it’s a 15 month lease…

@cheapdad00 - Volvo dealers can’t go below straight A-Plan anymore (as of this month) without losing the $3,000 incentive on the S90 (or the 2% commission). So deeper discounting is dead in the water.

NOTE: everything changes on August 1st with Volvo, for the better or the worse…

Volvo’s MF/Rv are national, FYI.
