As the title pretty much says, I’m looking to purchase a Lexus RX which I intend to keep for a long time, but debating which trim to go with between the 350, 500, hybrid models and if I should just purchase a brand new or CPO? I think I want something this generation, just not sure what you can usually secure a better deal on. Some have recommended looking at the 2022 V6 instead of the current generation, but I definitely like the tech/infotainment in the new generation.
Which do you recommend and why? Anything to look out for in particular?
I didn’t look up any model year changes so IDK if 2025 vs 2024 MY is important to you. But brand new because I’ve almost never seen a Japanese brand CPO where the price was sufficiently below a discounted brand new car to be worth it.
Lease followed by an immediate buyout whenever the lease incentives are sufficiently larger than straight purchase incentives.
There’s lease money on non-PHEV models too, I think $2000 for the hybrid and $5000 for the regular 350. The PHEV gets $7500 EV credit for lease only which is why that model should be leased then bought out. I don’t know if there are any incentives for purchase, but you should be able to get a discount on any of these.
I would stay far away from the 500, ain’t nobody who should be buying a $70k RX.
If you are going to keep it a long time then the hybrid may be worth it, because it will take a lot of time for you to make up the additional cost of the hybrid versus the gas savings of having the hybrid. Me personally I’d get the hybrid because going to the gas station is annoying and worth a few thousand extra.
They also hold their value well, so you never have to recover the entire difference between its price and the gas trim’s price just through fuel savings.
