Run-flat Tire Recommendations?

My wife’s 2016 X1 lease was in for service yesterday and, at 17k miles, needed new front brakes. This was a car we picked up as a former loaner with 5700 miles. At the end of the inspection report, it said that the front Pirelli RFTs were down to 4 and the rears were at 5. Not impressive - I fully expected we’d make it to the end of the lease.

Does anyone have any RFT recommendations that BMW will accept and that preferably won’t wear below minimums in 12-18 months? If I had known this was going to happen, I would have just pulled off the RFTs and stored them to put back on at the end of the lease. Live and learn.

Take them off now if they’re still above 4/32 which is the minimum allowed with BMW (check with them if it’s still the case) and buy a cheap new set of non RFT and put them back on at the end just for lease return.

I have a call in to the dealer’s inspection person about that. I’m not optimistic about the fronts passing muster.

my understanding is 4/32 passes. Call BMWFS they will tell you their benchmark.
