Returning Volvo Lease early

i need to return my lease 3 months early, Volvo financial seems pretty cool with everything, but the dealerships are being a bit vague

First tried returning closer to my house and no one would agree to it, I remember both brokers and Volvo
Employees claiming I can return anywhere in the continental US when I signed but whatever

The original leasing dealership said it’s fine come whenever to return it, but weren’t sure if I was still liable / needed to insure it for 3 months, which makes no sense at all

So anyone have experience doing this? I’m expecting to remove liability and get my MSDs back. What document should I be demanding from them at the time of return to make sure I’m no longer liable for the car? Am I supposed to take the plates back?

I know these are dumb questions but the dealerships seem clueless

If you spoke to volvo financial and got the ok from them, what’s the issue? They’re the one that have the say in the manner, not the dealer.

I just returned Volvo leased from NJ to one of Long Island Volvo dealers with no problems.
Those 3 months payment is a separate story.

Let me know if you need contact info.

They say yeah just pay off $X and go return it. But they can’t speak for the dealers. If a dealer ends up refusing to take it then I start a back and forth between them and the bank. I just want to be more informed before I get to that point. I can foresee a situation where I paid the lease in full (closed out the loan payments), have not reached the end date and still be liable for it

You’re on the hook for paying them regardless. If a dealer refuses to take it back, it’s going to either impact you now or in three months.

Did you get an early termination payoff quote from Volvo financial?

Yes but it was super high, they mentioned just paying off the required payments and fees was an alternative to that. But I’ll have to call on Monday and see what the process is (also getting the inspection earlier)
